Over used and used very incorrectly word. Fetish

nevermind

I misread the topic and my answer didn't fit what was asked. With that being said, what the word fetish means is going to be different for a lot of people and it will be the correct definition as well. It's that broad of a term.

And I noticed that no one has mentioned a fetish being a religious object. Or something (an item) that has magical powers. That's a type of fetish as well.

I did find it somewhat mean that people were attacking an individual on this topic and not the idea or topic itself. Debate is much more fair and balanced if addressing the thoughts expressed and not specifically attacking the person.

LL's topic is an interesting one because the word "fetish" is being so bastardized now as to almost lose its real meaning. And escorts are offering fetish work when some of them really shouldn't be. It takes a special outlook and sensitivity to be able to do certain things and do them well.

Just a few afternoon thoughts for you!
I have no business passing opinions on astrophysics, childbirth, nor landing a damaged airplane as I have no experience nor training in any of them. I say this because IMHO it is similar to someone who is a self-defined, "straight vanilla sort of guy. not into any fetishes" defining what is or is not a fetish.

Those who have been in the BDSM lifestyle for decades cannot agree on the definitions of some basic terms like "dominant", or "bottoming", or whether gender is binary or a continuum.

I think some humility would be a nice start on the path to enlightenment.
"fetish" is code for "BBQ" in most BP ads.

I have to disagree with you on BJs not being a fetish. Some men love getting a blow job way more than actual intercourse. I have spent over a year talking to hundreds of men on different websites, forums, and online groups that have a deepthroat fetish.

I am an owned and collared oral sex slave to a Master that has traveled the country looking for the perfect BJ. When he met me he fell in love. We were oral only for 6 months before intercourse ever happened.

My porn is all oral fetish scenes and not all BDSM related. This is my one and only service and there are truly men out there that are enthusiasts who will reward you greatly for be so passionate and skilled in this area.

Are we talking about things that are fetishes by definition, or by the intent of whoever is misusing the word at the moment?

Laz, you are looking at it backwards. You don't define fetish by the things typically described that way. You start with the definition, and see if the activity fits. The problem is, by definition, an activity is a fetish only if the seeker of the activity sees it that way. Fetish doesn't describe the act, just how the actor views it.

The definition of fetish never changes. Litterly anything can be a fetish. See the definition stated earlier in the thread. What changes by socal group is what activities are considered normal and acceptable and which activities are deviant or unacceptable.

In the spirit of LL's post, I believe he is correct. The reality of what constitutes a fetish lying with the participant is outside what I believe the intent of this thread was about. Not that I disagree with it being entirely in the perception of the participant (BBBJ a fetish for person X? Sure. Not for person Y? Of course not. No problem.)

The reality _here_, however is not definition, but connotation. In this world, there is a consensus that varies greatly with RL - and quite commonly varies greatly within itself. The definition of fetish - as well as GFE - and most other "non-specific" descriptions are completely irrelevant to those participating in this little corner of the universe. The connotation of a fetish can be gleaned from Another Realm - but may not (and most assuredly will not) denote a fetish for everyone, but that's the overall accepted "norm" for this abnormal world. Could it change? Sure. But that's what it is now. And as such, for a provider to advertise a non-specific service (fetish, GFE, PSE, etc), the expectation that said provider will know what the connotation of that service is in this world should be a given or should be pointed out.

..... best I could come up with.

My dick in your throat to keep you from speaking while your eyes are watering and you can't breathe, then i mouthfuck you til the cum gushes out of your mouth onto your chin, and you splutter and gag gasping for air. Yeah, Any takers?
All very true. A provider who advertises fetishes had better understand the clients expectations.
