An attractive lady charging $200 an hour would raise eyebrows in NYC but not here in the Carolinas. The norm here in the carolinas is $200-$250 an hour. $400 an hour will fly here in Charlotte especially with great reviews. It's one thing to have a great website and know how to write good ads but it's another thing when all your reviews are stellar, you have a classy website, stunning photos and good business and BCD skills. Let's face it the rates, pics, websites gets the date but what hooks the guys is attitude and performance.
I started at $250 and business was more than I could handle then raised my rates to $275 and still wayy more than I can handle. $300 an hour was great for a while but after more reviews started to pop up and inquiries came in, I dropped the hourly rate and now have a 2 hour minimum.
I second what others have said especially when it comes to starting a blog. It's amazing the newbies that I have seen from my blog alone and I'm telling you these are not your typical $250 an hour hobbyists but guys that are genuinely interested in who you are as a person and will do whatever it takes to see you even if it means flying you to their home city for an all day date.
To be successful in this business, you have to know your market.
Don't charge high rates if all your pics are taken in a dirty bathroom, your tampon string is showing, your hair is a mess, you can't write good english, you can't speak clear enough english, you NCNS constantly and then bitch about it being the client's fault (one NCNS is unacceptable), you list your number but don't answer your phone when a suitor calls (email only is the way to go if you can't answer your phone), you don't respond promptly to emails, you have filled your website with tacky graphics that have nothing to do with the services you provide, you write on your ads that you are available 24/7 and won't answer the phone at 4am because you are sleeping (see ? makes no sense to even write that), you don't know how to dress like a normal human being when going to a hotel (just because you're a "hooker"/"escort", doesn't mean you have to look like one) and last but not please for the love of man, if you offer specials today to a client, honor them forever. Do not complain because he will not pay your new rate. Trust me I wouldn't either! I ain't paying more for what I have already had for half the price. This business is just like any other business. Mocha mentioned not lowering rates because it's well known that ladies will lower their rates to get more business and unless they're rates are just crazy -assed high, it's not going to make a difference.
When I lowered my rates a couple of years ago from $250 to $200, well there was a difference but I also started advertising on other sites and changed my business plan. But it was still a rather extreme change and I almost wish that I had never done that.
A LOT of ladies, especially the young ones who don't have a lot of experience, will try to go lower and lower with their rates and that just isn't an effective way of garnering more business.
So Mocha ... rock on!
Yes, it is odd that the original poster hasn't responded. ALL of these comments have been well meaning. It's been a good topic!
Oh well.
