I am still waiting on Billy Saul to explain why his situation is exceedingly worse.
Last 4 years has been good to me, financially.
Lost a kick-ass gf though. I did meet some interesting, fun people from here after my break-up.

Neither are a result of Obama.

It really depends on how you are set up for 2008. Fortunately, I had less $ in the market and decided to buy up ETF before the crash in late October 2008 and buy equities after March 2009.

Trends or the data shared may show some indicators depending on what kind of context given. I'd have to say Obama had a lot of crap passed to him from Bush Jr. In one sense, 2008/2009 is the bottom so it can only look better in the next few years. Or you can say that at least Obama didn't let the US economy go into a tailspin in 2009. Maybe it'll set up the next recession since we've spent and printed so much money. Odd that USD is up now. Still can't believe that CAD actually caught up and went a tad higher than USD.

Facts can and will generally be skewed by those with an agenda. If you want unskewed facts, you need to go to the source and stay away from propagandinistas like Fox and MSNBC. I avoid pulling my information from such sources. Originally Posted by F-Sharp

I am curious ( not in a konfrontational way) which news source you consider to be accurate, more facts than fabrications, equal coverage to both sides and so on?? What truly is the best ' source' out there to pull these unskewed facts from?

sad. I tend to google the news, read 10 articles, and know I have been told 9 lies.. then i go about my day. not really 100% sure if i believed the correct one.

what guides my news following was a quote from John Locke I wrote a paper about in highschool

"he who says he knows is a fool shun him, he who says he knows not not is a wise man, follow him"

whenever I hear some jackass telling me they know everything? I'm out, sorry you fool.

I actually like Wikipedia too, mostly because the information there is policed by everyone and is for the most part citable. As for news sources, I would say your big two, MSNBC and Fox are the most biased, and everyone else tries to present a balanced picture, though they don't always succeed. I am sometimes shocked at just how biased some legitimate news sources can be. Case in point is something Billy posted in another thread recently:

You'd would expect the Wall Street Journal to be a little right bent, but notice how they wrote this particular article...trying to scare everyone in to believeing the big bad Obama demon is coming to tax everyone to death! If you've ever read the healthcare bill in detail, you know as I responded, that most of those miniscule percentage of taxes are being placed on less than 2% of the population and foriegn importers of medical devices. They managed to skip over people who tan for some reason, who are also being taxed for this healthcare legislation.

"so many middle-class families will soon be considered rich", the author says when referring to households making over $250k a year. Reallity is that less than 1.5% of American households pull in that kind of dough. Bet Joe the Plumber is pissed off after reading it though, mainly because Joe can't be bothered to look elsewhere for the facts. And of course Joe can only dream of ever hauling in that much cash a year.

I encourage people to try and prove anything I post as inaccurate or untruthful. Being wrong is always a great learning opportunity, and I welcome the challenge! I think people have a tendency to read me wrong in these forums. You wouldn't guess it from most of my posts, but I am not an Obama supporter. I simply am forced to go where the facts lead me. He wouldn't get my vote today against just about any socially liberal candidate, and I would be happy to vote Republican if Abe Lincoln were to rise from the grave. I've said in previous posts I don't even consider Obama a liberal or a Democrat. If anything, he's a moderate Republican and big compromising pussy. However, I don't let my personal opinion of him cloud my judgement, and it certainly doesn't change the facts.

Guess I am just rambling now....

Since when? Not since Obama took office as the question was posed. Take another look at your chart. Home prices nose-doved at the end of Bush's term in 2008. Obama took office Jan. 2009. Home prices have been relatively flat since that time, and overall, up. Take a look here at the pre-bubble trend, the graph continues to go up and it's pretty clear home prices have avg. about 160k - 175k since Obama has been in office.

You and GFE stand corrected once again.

Kosher?
In times of recession it's hard to start growth when you're firing public workers.

What got Hitler elected was the austerity program of Chancellor Bruning, who responded to the depression of 1930 by slashing public spending. This deepened the depression and by 1932 the public was panicing. The Nazis had been marginalized by the economic recovery of the 1920s and were all but a footnote, but they re-bounded as result of the depression and Bruning's austerity program.

We should reduce the size of government.....BUT NOT NOW.

ps...

The way out of this is to keep expanding the money supply through credit so investment will be ample, and tax the rich to balance the budget. We don't need investment from the wealthy for investment, and taxing the non-rich will reduce badly-needed agregate demand.

Mr. President, can you help? What happened to Hope and the American dream? On second thought BHO, don't answer as we know if your lips are moving you are lying and the housing market needs action to bounce back, not more rhetorical bullshit
The only reason why unemployment is low in Texas is because the price of oil is over $90. a barrell.

When oil prices are high it's impossible for the Texas economy to be weak....impossible no matter how hard people like Gov. Perry try to drag us down.*

*Perry was formerly the Texas Campaign manager for Al Gore, and a cheerleader. Personally I believe he is a Marxist.

Speaking as a former California resident; who in their right minds thought they could afford a $400,000 - $750,000 home making $60k a year? Most of those fools that lost their homes couldn't even make the interest payments with a subprime loan, much less pay anything on the principle. Hence my reason for ultimately coming to Texas and buying something I could actually afford with a low fixed rate...but I digress.

Consider how many people have lost their homes..I wasn't able to find an exact number but some of the data said over two million foreclosures last year alone. Tell me this, what do you expect our President should be doing that he hasn't already done? Seems to me you conservative types should not be suprised with the outcome and be perfectly content that people who made bad decisions are now paying for it. Free markets, and fend for yourself and all that crap. Now you're complaining that Obama doesn't step in with yet another "socialist plot" to fix all your troubles. Do I dare call you a bunch of hypocrits? There's just no winning with you is there? Fixing shit cost money folks, money we don't have due to oppressive tax cuts, two wars, and a debt limit none of you wants raised. Sorry, but you made your bed, now you're gonna have to lie down in the dirty sheets on it for awhile.

You might as well get it in your heads now, it'll be DECADES before this little experiment in deregulation and free markets fixes itself, not one Presidential term.
