The Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964 and the Voting Act in 1965. Who won the south in 1968? George Wallace! A democrat! Nixon won in 1972 but considering how the election turned out and who his opponent was that was a given. Who won the south in 1976? Yep, Jimmy Carter. Another democrat! In 1980 Ronald Reagan beat Carter sooooo bad that the south was his be default but Georgia went for the democrat again. The beating was worse in 1984. Maybe 1988 will tell the story but it was also such a beat down... I guess Mr. Cooley is not that smart. The results of the elections challenge him and WTF. I also noticed that someone early on did say that the GOP "became" racist. So at one time they weren't if you believe that. So what happened? It couldn't have been in 1964 because more republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act than democrats. So in 1964 it was still the democrats who were racist. We already went over the election results so when did it happen? When Obama was elected? Really? You really think that Hillary would have been met with kisses if she had gotten the nomination? But, if you want to play the thing out, why don't you post up information about what Robert Byrd and George Wallace said about their racist pasts later in their lives? The repudiated their earlier viewpoints. So, if we're going to take the past into account, be fair and acknowledge it all.
