If you're doing as well as you say - why the open anger and hostility towards what other people earn? Who sets the market for what you earn. If you told me your profession I could likely make a case you're overpaid.

Additionally, there is a certain amount of hard work and moving up the ranks to get to that income level. I imagine it would gall anyone who has had to work hard to achieve that income (to say little of the sacrifice involved regarding sleepless nights studying and toiling, damaged relationships from overwork, student loan debt, etcetera) to see someone who is barely functioning at a literate level earn the same amount with little more effort than laying down and spreading their legs.
The fact is that any job that puts the employee in danger, whether legitimate work or not, involves some sort of hazard pay. Escorts command higher rates than their education, training, or business skills allow for, in part due to supply and demand - that particular escort is the only woman in possession of that particular body - there may be more out there like it, but that one is her own... she has the option of sharing it with whoever she wishes, at whatever compensation she deems appropriate; but also, the risks inherent in the work itself. Anyone engaging in this activity runs the risk of being beaten or robbed, but the women involved also carry the risk of being raped, are generally ill-equipped to protect themselves from violence, and, due to the social stigma revolving around this activity, far less likely to achieve any form of justice. The general opinion is that, since she is a whore, she was asking for it, deserved it. Why bother reporting, when it all boils down to a case of he-said-she-said? A jury of peers doesn't include anyone like us.
There are, of course, ladies out there with skill sets, attractiveness, business skills, and education beyond that of the "average hooker," who are able to command higher rates - just as those in legitimate business who are more competitive in their skills and education are able to command more competitive compensation packages. I feel closer to deserving my compensation now than the barely legal version of me did. Do I deserve higher pay than my patrons? Certainly not - at least, not in this profession. Can I command it? Well, anyone can command anything; it is up to their audience if they are willing to accept.
I will say this: I appreciate everyone who walks through my door. I don't need a special day to do so. I care about people, genuinely; if I know someone is going through a rough time, I will worry, or offer any help I can. I especially appreciate those who show me a little extra consideration. I don't expect it, but those people who see me as more than "just a whore," but down to the human woman with educational aspirations and warm, squishy feelings beneath the whore veneer, are generally closer to my inner circle than any "friend list" denizen on normal social media sites.
