i have been offshore for almost 24 years now,old maritime law states that us the oil company cannot drill ourselves it has to be contracted,we lease the mineral rights from the federal government,so we contract with a drilling co,no matter whos fault it is,it was human error, and equipment issues, and any company who did business with this rig, will be subject to fault,i work for the worlds largest oil company and have had many dealings with transocean,as well as many other drilling companies, transocean drilled the worlds deepest well in 2000,bottom line it was human error as well as faulty equipment, and the lawyers will have a field day, since we have to pay a lease for the mineral rights the federal government sould have to pay also, mms has given my rigs many inks, which are fines,so let them spend that money to help cleanup Originally Posted by lowgear11 years out myself and I couldnt have said it any better.
