Hooker, Provider, Whore, Prostitute, etc. - What's the difference?

They are all just labels but I believe the word(s) you choose to use also define you as a person such as or your attitude toward people or groups of people.

I would never use derogatory names other than provider, but normally always use lady, woman, and such. Other names may not bother the woman, but it does cut deep with me. I wasn't raised like that.

Ask random people on the street, "Are you a _____?" That experience will generalize (not exactly, but enough) to the folks here.

They are all just words. They all have slightly different connotations but the exact same annotation. It all depends on context.

Usually I'll call myself a provider and refer to providers as "escorts" in the RW. Personally, I don't care what you call me just make sure it's appropriate to situation.

Examples: While setting up the appointment you call me a "provider". When we go to dinner I am your "companion". Later when you are spanking me and pulling my hair then call me "whore" and mean it. If I'm doing it to you then call me "ma'am". If candlelight and DFK and gazing into each other eyes are more your bag then we are "friends". If I've pissed you off call me "dumb hooker".

guess Im stuck in the 80's or 90's because I always say call girl or escort when describing my career. The term provider can mean anything like health care provider or insurance provider. Theres no mistake when I tell somebody I was a call girl they know what Im talking about.

Words are just words...any negative connotations you apply to the word you're being called come from you, and only you...

The attitude and approach is what's important. CarolineDavenport stated it best when she said, "Just don't say it with derision and judgment". Words such as ho, hooker, prostitute, whore, coochie-mama, etc....all carry negative overtones. It signals a poor attitude or a lower level of respect by the person using such a term, possibly a disdain for women. It might even offer a signal of a person that may not know better for whatever reasons.

Had a very well known provider in my area call herself a prostitute once and I took 8 minutes of our play time to explain why she should not look at herself that way. You ladies provide an important service to me and the other gentlemen of ECCIE and I for one express that appreciation by using the right term, provider. Semantics. I don't really care what someone calls me, because I'm not that thin skinned and I get paid the same amount no matter what label you want to put on it. What you (or anyone else) think of me is mostly irrelevant. If it makes you feel better to call me a provider, knock yourself out. If you like the word prostitute better, fine by me. The intent behind the word used matters much more than the word itself. Calling me a provider with derision and judgment is much worse than calling me a whore with no ill will.

I think a lot of us use Provider and Client because we take our business seriously, and we want you to know that. You're not just a John, because we want to see you again and again, and we will do our best to help that professional relationship flourish.
