I'm out here on the road 45 to 60 days at a time, then go home for a few days. eat sleep and drive. I see alot. Families moving both young and old, parents moving their kids, not just coming or going to college. Hate to be the bearr of bad news but the economy is crashing. Texas has seen the start in the small towns, as you drive through stores boarded up, fast food joints closed, banks might be open but probably with limited hours., Hotel, motels closed out of business, it is very sad to say but My gut feeling is we are about to see what happened during the depression.

The big cities haven't seen to devastation the small towns are going through. (Hope and Change!) Big cities have the increase in crime, theft, drugs etc. Dallas is one of the top 5 cities for Tractor trailer theft in the country with LA being at the top.

If you are out and about lock your doors and be aware of your surroundings and whom is around. especially gas stations and truck stops. Truckers will not stop anymore to assist motorists, it is not safe for us to stop. Last year a trucker was shot to death in the Carolinas while he slept beside the road.

Yes I do enjoy the leaves turning, the fall colors, but not looking forward to the blanket of white soon to come.

ps, hope DFW doesn't get hit like last year. You people need to learn how to drive especially around big trucks. lol
I just completed a 1000 mile round trip visit to my father.

Pheasant hunting season opened Saturday at home so the town was really full of people in brand new hunting clothes with very expensive shotguns. Airport wing to wing with private planes. Suvs with trailers and dog cages in the back from all over the U.S.

Weather was perfect with one of those crisp fall days and fields of picked corn and a sky visible from horizon to horizon. Sleep with the windows open and an extra blanket.

Way too many political signs planted in front yards!!!!!!

As I roll along I listen to Bob Seger and Waylon Jennings, NPR, and my favorite is to find Evangelical broadcasts just to listen to that stuff as I avoid it normally.

This weekend I heard a call in Christian Financial Advice Program. A 77 year old retired Oklahoma teacher called in to ask for some advice. She has been retired on pension for some years now, owns numerous properties and only has 2 grandsons to whom to leave her estate. The phone advisor told her to stay on hold as he would take care of her personally. Yeah I bet he will I can see a trust with him as administrator at a pretty good fee.

Olivia I have an idea about going West to East across Nebraska but I was born and raised north of there and there is a beauty in the prairie as it is a simple beauty with a sky that is unmatched.

Then of course we could talk about winter and all of the good feeling go away in the 26" snowfall and the minus 13' temp.
