I used to live down there when I was a broke student, and I have no particular need to see that area ever again. A nicer apartment in a better area can't be that much more, so why choose something that might put people off? A bad incall detracts from the experience even if there are no safety issues. It doesn't have to be fancy, but I like a decent incall. A lot of students with mommy and daddy's money and young professionals with short sighted spending habits have really nice cars, so I don't think a luxury car would necessarily be out of place in a moderately upscale gated community near Riverside.
At the end of the day... it can't be had both ways. Since the economy crashed complaining about rates seems to be the Austin community's favorite past time. No provider can maintain her own home, a separate incall at the Domain, and still manage to keep rates low.
