I see an underlying resentment of the fact that many of the men NEED the women and many of the women NEED the men. And need each other for very basic reasons, sex and necessities ( food, clothing, shelter), and that this need is also a fear that they might not be able to get these basics. Quite easy to resent something that you know has such power over you. Knowing Kara for years now I can say this with an absolute guarantee. Kara is one of the classiest and well spoken ladies I know and you are lucky to have her in Austin. I cannot agree that people involved in this thing of ours are at all "social misfits." IMHO nothing can be further from the truth.

I have accumulated a lot of clients, and they are exactly a cross-section of male society at large.

I have dealt with a substantial number of providers, and the only thing that makes them different than any cross-section of females their age is that they have made a choice many other girls havn't considered for one reason or another, and that isn't necessarily out of "desperation," but is often just "examination."

This thing we do is definitely more stigmatized in this country than most others, and for that reason I understand the social considerations felt by providers. Every girl I have worked with has resisted anything on the content of my site which could remotely reveal to anyone that they are involved in this. It's a serious issue for them. To be honest it's a difficult issue for us, and sometimes causes tensions.

But the truth is that [except for muslim societies] this is a widely practiced, normal activity which has been going on longer than any other form of commerce.

Particpation in the hobby is an active decision to shun widely accepted social mores and become part of a counterculture-- hence my use of the word misfit. What I was not trying to do was label all of as a bunch socially inept, awkward buffoons for engaging in P4P. I was simply saying that hobbyists and providers are viewed with the same amount of disdain from members of the mainstream. Our taboo behaviors make us outcasts and misfits by society at large... and I'm getting fucking sick and tired of all the hate coming from each side. That's all I was trying to say.

Can't say I agree with that. While first and foremost this is a relationship based solely on shallow and superficial needs, we are not hippos nor birds. We're humans and capable of something few other species are-- Compassion. So even though both parties most basic and superficial needs are being met in the most basic and superficial way, doesn't mean P4P relationships are devoid of mutual respect and admiration. I know for a fact, that I am not the only one who feels this way.

That's like saying that anyone you meet in the course of doing business with you care nothing about as a person just because it was your job that caused you to meet and interact.
