No one is persecuting gay people in the United States. Really, you don’t want to see them, know them, be around them, serve them, employ them, marry them or grant them the exact same rights and liberties that you yourself and others that think as you do demand and enjoy. What would you call that?
In fact, I would say that it is the Christian who is not allowed to fully practice their religion...by gay activists! So how many Christians have gays attacked, how many churches have gays shut down, how many Christians have been fired by gays for being Christians, how many Christians have been refused service by gays due to them being Christian? Christianity is a belief which is unstoppable, but it is NOT the law of the land no matter how much you wish the parts that suit your ideals were. Of course you deviated from the OP. In my first post I responded directly to your post by saying they should strive for every right they can achieve, why shouldn’t they, you would. In later posts I directed my posts at other posts made that were equally not directly your topic, blame me, best blame them also. A decade ago public opinion approved of the idea of partners rights for gay people (healthcare, hospital visits, inheritance, etc.) when suddenly, it was no longer enough. Would it be to you? You get to marry, they get a civil union and partners rights, why do they deserve less than you get? They wanted to change the very definition of marriage. News flash, this has happened before maybe look up Loveing v. Virginia. Just a little case where the states also used race to define marriage. Oh and don’t try to use Roberts argument against this it’s weak. There has not been a long stand historical legal definition of marriage, it was a long standing assumed one. No one, NO ONE, denied them the right to get married just like everyone else but marriage was defined as a joining of a man and a woman, period. They were denied it on an assumed definition NOT a legally binding one. One that if traced back allowed no legal standing for women in the marriage, they were essentially chattel. The greatest thing about this country is the laws can and will change no matter how painful it might be for those stuck in the past or blinded by their narrow views. This little trick by the Supremes changed the definition a word but did not create equality. In fact, it created another inequality. How long before someone wants to marry their sister, mother, brother, dog, cat, or two or more partners. If they can argue a good enough case to change the law to allow it, so be it, as I said it’s the great thing about this country Since the Supremes can change what a word means (Roberts said that this was not supported by the Constitution) why not do it again. The meaning of marriage didn’t change, the legal definition did. Still the OP is about that gay people are still not happy and have moved the goal posts again. Hell, some of this nations greatest achievements were because people didn’t just settle for the given they pursued more!
People like me realize and understand that the world is not a fixed, it’s a fluid and evolving thing and rather than get pissed off about being steamrolled by it, I learn to flow with it, both in what I do like and don’t. Isn’t America great!!!
