Stop trying to read what you want to into my comments. In no way did I imply that I wanted an Uzi banned. As of this time on August 29, 2014, getting an Uzi banned is not on my list of priorities. Some day you'll learn that you can't put TONE into the written word. While I see no need for a law-abiding citizen to own such a weapon for self-protection, if it is legal and turns you on to own one, fine by me. If you or anyone else gets turned on and excited by firing such a weapon, good for you. In an hour or so I'll head out on the road on my bicycle and do 20+ miles at 17+ mph. Now THAT turns me on.

What I find interesting is over the years on several different websites, people have either talked about the weapons they use for self-protection or given other people advice as to what weapon they would purchase for self-protection. Not once has anyone mentioned an Uzi. Originally Posted by SpeedRacerXXX

Face it, the instructor fucked up. It happens. I was trying to teach a young woman to shoot a black powder rifle one time. I handed her a loaded .50 caliber Hawkins, my ear muffs were around my neck, and I was standing in front and to her left. I expected her to listen and do as I said. She put the rifle to her shoulder and immediately started jerking at the triggers. I tried to back up while grabbing my ear muffs and the same time trying to tell her to not shoot yet. That gun went off while I was in front (and to the side) of the muzzle. The force of the shot made my head ring for a couple of days and I had a hell of a headache. Don't stand in front of the muzzle whether you are two feet or 20 feet away.
That explains a lot.

Keep the faith. Maybe someday you'll prove me wrong on something I state, similar to how I've proven you wrong countless times.

Age is a stupid was to gauge anything except for how long a person has been alive. For drinking, driving, voting, handling a gun, smoking, fucking, what have you, the determining factor should be competence.

The guy fucked up and paid a hefty price.

But some things should require a maturity that grade school kids do not posses.

I feel very sad for the girl--especially because that inane video will exist forever on the internet.

I also think the instructor was stupid.

But what I struggle with is the issue of the parents. I am completely in agreement that the parents need to be responsible. If they were not, should they in part be culpable for the accidental death?

And if I lose control of my car in a way that it runs into your car, am I not libel for the damage? If I tossed my car keys to a 9 year old and THEY ran into your car, would I not be libel? What is the difference here? Is it just because it involves your beloved, phallus substitute, GUN?

Old T you have a point. How long before the parties "Lawyer Up"?
All parties have to accept that it was a case of the instructor failing to do his job and keep control of the MINI UZI!!!
It is the parents responsibility to do what is best for their children and if and I repeat IF this 9 YO girl has had some gun training and could show that she was capable then I would let her shoot if she wanted if not they should have refused and stuck to a single action firearm. The Mini Uzi is the smallest caliber firearm they have.
But and a big But: The instructor should have evaluated her and made recommendations if he was not comfortable with her capability to operate the unit...
If my kids had an interest in shooting and they had some gun education, both classroom and hands on and wanted to fire an UZI, I would let them... I wouldn't take them to a circus like the Last Stop but to a professional trainer who would have taught her the weapon, then how to fire single rounds, then 5 rounds, then 10, and then 20 until she mastered the characteristics of the gun. Not by some guy who works in a tourist trap and gets paid buy how fast he gets you in and out and how many bullets you shoot.
The roadside circus (AKA Last stop) let's people shoot .50cal. at 700 rounds a minute raining with no formal training and yes kids are a regular there as these videos clearly show.https://www.facebook.com/arizonalaststop/photos/pcb.703145046412525/703131386413891/?type=1
