Deposit for newbies ? Legit screening?

I agree with those who've already posted that paying a deposit in no way proves a person isn't LE.

For a newbie with no refs I require a deposit. But that's partly because I don't have a incall location and work from hotels. So 30% deposit through PP or Venmo. It just pays for room ahead of time so I'm not stiffed. I dont think it exactly stops LE, but what are the chances they are going to use either their own real card to pay online or go out and get a gift card that may or may not work?
Even asking for a deposit scares away would-be skeevy people.
