IMHO, every person has their own "fairy-tale," or as PUK put it, their own dream. And I think those dreams not only go far beyond reality, but can never be realized. Nobody, but nobody, gets the fairy-tale. Reality intrudes on the fairy-tale.
IMHO, this is one of the reasons why there are so many divorces. Little girls are reared to believe they will fall head over heels in love with a white knight. And we all know that in these little girls' minds, WKs are perfect in all respects. And after the little girl grows up and gets married, she finds out her WK is not perfect (in multiple respects), and she becomes disillusioned. She rejects and divorces him because he doesn't meet her "fairy-tale." Well, no man could meet the high bar that her mind has set up for the fairy-tale. She never really gave the guy she married an honest chance because she never tried to make it work. She never realized he was human and came with feet of clay. In her eyes, he was supposed to be perfect.
