Of course there would be no "Eccie" so we'd never know!

A three page thread and almost nothing worth reading.

According to some here, Trump gets a free pass on anything he said as a candidate? That is dumb.

Trump is getting better about understanding that the IC actually might know more than a corporate CEO. But sadly he still selectively believes/uses intel reports--just as Obama and Bush-2 did. But of the three, he might be the best at actually accepting what is there (and what is not actually known).

Going to war with NK is the wrong thing. It is a losing proposition no matter what the outcome. And one might want to look back at the last time we did that. It is too close to China, and they cannot tolerate either US massed presence, nor the perception that we can operate with impunity in their backyard.

The cleanest options are (1) to convince China to handle the twerp (why they have tolerated a nut job who CAN deliver nukes within China's borders I will not really comprehend), or (2) a surgical assassination. Sometimes--as in this case--the NK population cannot do anything to control their mad dog, and in reality they are not to blame for the Kim family. No reason to make the population suffer for one genetically inbred sick bastard.

Of course the consequence of such a removal would be "interesting". Some country (SK???, China???) would have to step up and do what West Germany did after the fall of the wall. How that would play out in China's back yard is a big unknown.

We have the assets and we've had the time to lock down locations and preload the surprises. The recent "fly by" was a probe and "ping" if you will.

There will be collateral damage (although I can't stand the term) in the form of NK civilian population and infrastructure damage, as well as a potential of the same, but not as extensive in SK if at all. The lesson from the past is slogging it out is not the correct approach.

Unfortunately the previous administrations didn't push the issue to the breaking point and end NK's efforts for ever. Their failure to create credibility in NK has led us to this point.

The NK problem was not "pushed to issue" by Obama, but to be honest, it had been largely ignored for decades under both parties. The financial commitment to weapons/delivery platforms would be huge, and all the administrations since Carter--ALL of them--did not deem it a high priority place to spend DoD $$$s. Some talked a good game, but none bought the volume of relatively low-tech toys needed for a Korean fight. They either invested in stealth (Carter), nukes, SOF, etc.
