It's not made clear to police like it is the Military, but they are to disobey any illegal/unconstitutional order.
If their C.O tells soldiers to throw grenades into a crowd of non-combatants because he thinks combatants are hiding amongst them, they are to ignore that order.
Police are too. It's foggier for them though, unfortunately.
I will say, given recent rulings by federal circuit court rulings, it's highly likely the law will be overturned as unconstitutional. Therefore the sheriffs have a fairly good argument for not enforcing that law. Originally Posted by grean
