When Goodell met with Rice that video should have been requested as a starting point for negtiating a reduction in his suspension.
He could have started with a 1 year suspension for instance and told Rice that if he was able to look at the tape he might consider some leniency. That's one way to do it.
The security team in the NFL is full of retired cops, FBI etc that were smart enough to go to work for the NFL and get paid a lot more...but they weren't smart enough or connected enough to get the video? Bullshit! There's no way they didn't have the connections and the opportunity to coerce that tape from the casino.
The casino says they would have given it up if they'd been asked.
My guess is that the league office, maybe even Goodell himself mentioned wanting to see the tape and someone told him it was best if he didn't see it so he would have plausible deniability later on IF it came out. Looks like it's gonna bite him in the ass now.
Goodell's list of fuck ups gets longer and longer. He needs to go.
