I do apologize for not making that post in this forum.
Here it is...
The pop up ads were started by the owners to allow companies who supported this site from the beginning to advertise. The pop up window, like the banners and tabs and text links, is an advertising campaign.
They agree with the folks that feel pop ups can be annoying, so controls were put in place to minimize the annoyance to the members.
If you're not logged in, and browsing as a guest, you will get the pop up when you visit ECCIE and then click on a forum. Simply close it and it will not come up again for 24 hours.
If you are logged in to your account, you might get the pop up when you first log in, but after that you should not see it anymore.
The problem exists with those who have programs that block cookies or clear cookies when they close their browser or periodically while they are browsing. Those people may repeatedly get the pop up because it recognizes that there is no cookie and displays the pop up.
The majority of people who stay logged into the site should not have a major problem with the pop up ads.
I have a Mac and the pop-up is for some webcam BS telling me that some skank is watiing to talk to me.
The pop-up disables the red button to shut the window. A message inside the window tells me I have to click INSIDE the window and then hit cancel to close it.
I don't EVER like clicking inside the window. God know what kind of malware they install. I tried to Quit Firefox, but all it did was shut the browser but left the window open!!
I finally had to do a "Force Quit" on Firefox and then had to restart.
This is horseshit. We are being sold to scummy internet porn sites that, sooner or later, will install malware and probably start searching for personal information and credit credit card numbers. They always do.
I get one every time I go to log in, as soon as I type the first letter. It is in a new window and not always the same site, but it is getting old..stop it
The only adult oriented site I view from this machine is ECCIE.
The Pop-UPs have been extremely annoying and it has been disturbing to learn that it is with full cooperation of the owners that we are being subjected to them.
At times when closing them I am subjected to a message not to leavw because "amber" is waiting to talk to me.
Today "Amber" Texts me and tells me about her profile and to please come log in free at justhookups.com
So HOW THE HELL DOES "AMBER" get my personal Cell Phone Number?
I know "Amber" is nothing more than a phishing message from the site trying to lure suckers in...
But it is incredibly disturbing to get texts on my personal cell phone from the same annoying site that I can't seem to stop frm popping up from time to time while cruising ECCIE.
I never open any of these popups...... I don't look at porn..... ECCIE is the only adult oriented site...."Amber" trys to lure me in from ECCIE pop-ups and now "Amber" has my personal lcell phone number and is texting me.
Don't EVEN try to suggest they are not related.....
Something about these popups has pulled info from my computer, fed it back somewhere and generated text messages to me.....
This strikes me as an extremely serious breach......
