Not true. Apts in Sugar Land and Richmond start at $1200. That's a fucking ripoff. Originally Posted by Daft Punk

I understand that some REALLY NICE spots outside the beltway can be hella expensive, especially when there are really nice homes built around them and the neighborhood is still "new".

I don't have a mortgage and my home insurance is not a deduction. I owned one rental...once was enough. Rented to a school teacher with two kids.......little did I know her boyfriend would move in once he completed his felony sentence. What a mess.

I did the hotel incall thing for nearly 3 years and found it was cheaper to rent an apartment even with having to pay utilities, too, so I did. The initial outlay was expensive with all the deposits and furnishings, but I really like having my own place and amenities like a full kitchen and bar, and the ability to do my own decor. (Went with a Celtic theme, of course.) And I'm a good "maid" well-stocked with fresh sheets and linens.

I'm also in the FM 1960 area as the rent is HALF of what I'd pay closer to the heart of Houston for a comparable 1-bedroom place in a gated complex, and I have a lovely garden patio (I call it a courtyard since it's so frickin' huge and enclosed by a rounded brick wall over 8 ft high), but I am debating on trading it for a garden tub and moving when my lease is up next February. Then again, I REALLY like my private outdoor space and have a veritable tropical jungle growing out there. The weather is turning perfect for sitting out naked and looking at the stars, or getting naked and playing fresh-air porn star.

It can be tough, however, supporting a separate incall AND my little cottage in the deep, dark, spooky woods to the north for those chihuahuas. Crossing my fingers (but not my legs, obviously) that all goes well until I pay my mortgage off in just 2 more years. Since I live way out in Montgomery County, my insurance and taxes are dirt cheap.
