Alright, I'll explain myself a little better. I hate to be misunderstood.

Referring someone like Majorhands is one thing. He is a well-respected member of the ECCIE community, and NB has probably even heard good things about him from the providers! I don't think we're talking about people like him, though. Referring someone who is completely new to this site and perhaps even the hobby is another thing entirely.

I'm not going to share my stories of woe, but I will say that a voucher for a newbie to the hobby would carry no meaning. This is only my opinion, of course. All I'm trying to say is that it's probably a bad idea to have a monetary incentive to refer people to the hobby or to this site. You would be taking on a responsibility you might not intend to be taking on.

China Doll, that makes perfect sense. But isn't that the risk you take everytime you see someone new? I am not suggesting anyone relax their screening process. In fact, just the opposite. I saw a well-reviewed eccie/BP provider this week, and there was no screening whatsoever. Frankly, I was scared for her. That is what started this whole thread. But they all do not give the same info to hook you. You will get all you need. Even if you get just the carrier from one site it is good to know. I have heard of sorry will not see you if the phone is a hobby phone, please give me information. A phone from verizon (and others) can be easy to find info if needed. A cash phone from walmart is not so easy. So just that phone number can tell one alot,

On a bet once that it could not be done. I won after 3 hours on the web I got maiden, 1st and 2nd married name current being used. Last 4 places lived, And 2nd X owed the IRS a whole lot of cash. All for free. But for 5 to 50 bucks you can buy it in a second.
