May I humbly suggest that once the OP defines the non-political "fun and informative items" of which he speaks it might just be easier to point out the appropriate forums to which he and others of his ilk should post. Perhaps a Sticky could be made or enhanced to point this out to those who are allergic to politics?

St. C, in the event my above suggestion is overruled or insufficient, we (the politicized trolls and others of less trollish nature) will follow your inestimable wisdom in confining the political fun and games to any forum you and the wisdom of the mods dictate.

meh... usmessageboard.com is a political board, but I don't think the political posters here could hang. Best to keep users here and give them their own forum.

Whoever thought The Sandbox was created to remove politics from Diamonds and Tuxedos was seriously misinformed. Didn't have a damn thing to do with it.

Anyway, the political forum is now live. And for me, it's not to run out anyone from the Sandbox. Bottom line is there is quite a large following behind political threads and they're deserving of their own forum, plain and simple.

With that, please enjoy.

I think such a politics area is a great improvement.

Currently when non-politics items are posted in the Sandbox it generally takes about 10 milliseconds for it to degrade into a political mudslinging. There are obviously some who enjoy that, but it has driven essentially all other topics into hiding.

I haven't looked, but hopefully there will be some semi-clear definition about what falls into the new forum and what remains in the Sandbox.
