New Zealand Bans Assault Style Weapons.......

I'm old enough to remember back-alley abortions, too. The point is, I think, that the reason to make choice an option isn't because abortion will continue to happen so let's at least allow it to happen under safe conditions. Keep in mind that if you oppose abortion (our president believes women should be treated as criminals if they have an abortion) the basis for that position is that it is immoral, irrespective of how "safe" the procedure is when legal. You don't allow something that you consider to be wrong if additional wrongs are additional potential behaviors. I happen to believe in choice, but it's a hard issue to get comfortable with. It's a one of those issues, like capital punishment, that I may struggle with for the rest of my life.

Back to guns: I happen to think that owning a gun for protection from the government is kinda crazy. Irrational. Owning a gun to protect my family from wrongdoers is another matter altogether. I won't hesitate to use my weapon on someone if they enter my home with criminal intent. Originally Posted by agrarian

No one needs anything until they do. We are so ready to give up rights in an effort to achieve a utopian society where we live in individual plastic insulated bubbles.

We live in a sharp world that seems to love bursting bubbles.

Venezuelans didn't need guns to oppose their own government either...until they did.

Agrarian - I appreciate and respect the way You voice Your Opinion.Abortion is truly difficult. I understand the opinion of the Right to Life advocates. It has become a very polarized argument in our political forums across the nation.

Capital punishment- I am on record - US should outlaw and join the civilized nations who have abolished it.

If You trust the government to never need a weapon to protect yourself from them - that is your right. Holding weapons for legal reasons, including protection of home and family from criminal intruders - is a valid reason in our society. Just by the act of holding weapons for self-defense - radical politicians of the Socialist Maduro stripe are held at bay by the sure knowledge that armed Americans will protect themselves from tyrrany.
I pray that civil war never comes to our Country.

I respect your thoughtful approach to difficult issues.

BTW - Again- an AR-15 is not an "Assault weapon". It is just a semi-automatic rifle the same as a Ruger Mini-14. So why are the DPST's so fearful of a semi-automatic rifle. Makes no sense to me.

I like have my guns. Lots of right wing loons out there. 83% of all shooters identify themselves as "right wing". This includes domestic violence, mass shootings, school shootings, etc. The New Zealand Shooter identified himself with Trump. Same thing with the Pittsburg shooter. Sure glad I own a gun. I feel safer

So to try and roll back to the OP. Can anyone site the statistics of Assault Style weapons being used in "domestic violence".

I'm thinking pretty small. Just as the overall deaths by guns via Assault Style weapons remains hugely low.

It remains a talking point by the left to attack the 2nd Amendment.

I have guns. So do you. Why the fear from the right wing loons?. Are you scardy cats worried about someone in NZ not having assault weapons?. Btw what are assault weapons used for? Target practice?

The quote above, written by you, sounds like you are proud of the New Zealand shooter. Because he "was yanking the chain of U.S. lib-retards"; like he is part of your team: the U.S. Lib-Retards Chain Yankers.

Take another read of what you wrote and tell me you are still proud of that.

new zealand gun ban doesn't make sense. or maybe it does... dunno.

its not a complete ban. I think their issue is with guns that have a detachable magazine.

they're allowing people to own .22 caliber or less for "legitimate use (hunting and pest control)" so as long as it doesn't have a magazine or clip. that's just for the rifles. don't know about the handgun.
