It might be hard to imagine now, but there was a time, not all that long ago, that people of a certain gender or ethnic background wouldn't even get considered for a job literally because of their gender or ethnic background - no matter how qualified they were.

However the same should apply for jobs, college entrance, etc. A more qualified person should not be dismissed to make way for a lesser candidate. This is racism and idgaf about the private vs public argument.

In all seriousness tho, very entertained watching you guys focus on the classic diversity tropes and exposing a plethora of bias. What GM continues to focus on isn't solidly applied DEI practices. Diverse slates allow for the best qualified to have a seat at the table and win the role on their merit.

Berry used to focus on the same factors. It's the same tired affirmative action trope. That's not what DEI is about unless you're stuck in a very 90's, early aughts box check and quota mentality. You can tell he was never exposed to good DEI principles or just buried his head in the sand.

All the focus is on the diversity, read as AA without any semblance of the equity and inclusion. Those do apply to white people too. Even white men under 40. Vets. Disabled. Women. People of color. People from the North Hills looking for jobs in the South Hills. Foreign Nationals. We could go on. But I feel like it's probably time better spent elsewhere on folks with open minds who aren't trying to score ego points on a hooker board.
