To kusmaldo: I applaud your having put significant thought into closing an expansive chapter in your life story. Thanks for your post.
I want to add my history relating to the input from yourdesire: Same here. No bf or partner was involved in my entry into hobby-land. No ceoersion, entrapment, violence, or other cruelties. I'm lucky, & so is yourdesire. My 1st transaction was unexpected. I was single, still wanted sex with someone besides myself, but found dating was a fail. Guys seemed to panic once we slept together. It's like they assumed I wanted to have a LTR. Umm, no. I truly just wanted adult fun now & again.
Then... I had met a man I'd never met before for a casual hookup. A good time was had. As I was leaving his apartment, wordlessly, he slipped a Ben Franklin in my hand.
Fifteen years later, I still remember how I felt on the quiet walk down the corridor to exit the building. The smile grew on my face when I recognized that gift was extraordinary. That neatly folded bill instantly eliminated the trappings of pointless social norms like polite follow-up calls, both parties definitively agreed there were no expectations for contact. Add'l visits to his apartment? A yes or no was just a yes or no. No head trips. Hello Hobby-land!
Regarding unique_carpenter & Garfunkel : I agree. In my primary mainstream profession, I've spent many a coffee break with women colleagues (typically married) that occasionally made casual jests about how 'the hubby finally took the trash out w/o nagging, ha ha , since last night that same hubby rec'd a oh-so-rare bj'. I've stifled many a internal urge to speak out on how that is also a form of SW. It's just socially uncomfortable to recognize that 'rose' still is a 'rose'. The difference is the terms for payment for service is unspoken. Those colleagues never acknowledge it's the same d@mn thing.
