Again just dots the "I" on why I love OC. "hey I'm gonna be about 10 min late". No prob, I'm having a glass of wine. Not long ago one said "can I come early I've got nothing to do"? Sure, come on...I'm having a glass of wine & soon you will be too...

if he was a repeat customer why did you make him wait on the room number? that is frustrating to many of us. like you are saying what is a few minutes...

I normally give the girl 15 minutes and then I bail, by then you are so worked up and perhaps he had a Plan B too?? The problem is most of us go into this thinking it will never happen, since most of time it doesn't, then you are so close, then crickets... I can understand his POV and yours too

It's good you brought this up and asked our opinions. I think this is a bigger deal with the guys than the ladies realize or the guys want to admit.

I really hate it when I can't get phone contact just before the appointed time. It really spoils the mood and makes me nervous. I'm always nervous enough already.

I'm not sure I would have walked out because you were 1 minute late, but it would make me unhappy. I'd like to think I wouldn't have been an asshole about it.

I think the client has a reasonable expectation of having a definite contact 5 minutes or more before the appointment. I really don't want to sit around in the parking lot looking like the sleazy whoremonger I am wondering if the neighbors are watching. I don't want to be wondering if I'm going to meet the last guy coming down the stairs as I'm going up. I don't want to sit around wasting my time wondering if it's going to be another NCNS. Or if I'm going to have half an hour or hour of my time wasted.

Even a contact 30 minutes or more before and then nothing just before the appointment doesn't really do the trick. I want to know if the lady is ready, and that the last guy, real world friends, ex husband, mother, the police, or other undesirables aren't there. If you're not ready, ask me for a little delay. I'd rather drive around another 10 minutes than come in and find the lady not ready and have to wait.

If a lady can't answer the phone 5 minutes ahead of time, it raises the suspicion the last guy is still there. Or other undesirables are still there. Now, if you want to say "I'm here, but don't come up until the appointed time, that's fine, too.

What I really don't want to do is wander around looking for the right door wasting time out of my appointment and then be cut off at the "correct" time even though I wasted the first part of the appointment due to the lady not taking care of the arrangements.

Your insistence on conversing only via text and not communicating directly with the lady makes it worse. I want to be talked in. Let me know you're ready, or ask me to wait a few. Confirm it's the left stairway. If I can't see the building numbers, talk me in to the right building.

It's a major pain to text while driving or walking. It's a double pain to do it on a cheap hobby phone. It's really a pain to be trying to text while trying to find the right building or the right apartment. I'm nervous enough about my surroundings without having to deal with texting.

Be on the phone with me as I walk up, so you can open the door when I say I'm outside the door without knocking. That way, I don't have to wonder if it's the wrong room. I don't want to knock on the wrong door. You don't want me to knock on the wrong door. I really like it when you talk me from the car to the door, especially for the first visit.

One of your incalls had a broken doorbell at one time, and I stood there after ringing. I knocked gently and didn't get an answer for quite some time.

Then he responds ONE minute after the said appointment, would it be okay for the provider to say "NOPE, SORRY, you didn't answer and so now the appointment is cancelled." Ohhh the girl would catch such hell for that.

If I had a dollar for everytime a client of mine was a few minutes late, I could have made BANK! I think it's fair to give a 5 minute window, sometimes texts don't send right away, sometimes our clocks aren't synched...I could think of a million reasons.

If I was going to be late, I'd call the lady or at least answer the phone when she called me except under unusual circumstances.

I totally agree with you here. I hate texting too. I think it cheapens interpersonal communication.

I will never see someone I have never spoke with.

On the subject at hand, the guy might have been having an off day. Everyone gets a little short of patience every now and then. I would consider being by your phone as much as possible and just suck it up and never be even 1 minute late in the future. If you are, because you are only human, just understand that you might suffer a loss.

Traffic can be a factor, incall or out for either. Poor scheduling, other interferences, many factors on both sides. If it is a repeated problem then that is a whole different ball game. I'm sure the boys room could do a collection of information on lates and NS for ladies by phone/name/location and get some detailed data for the gents. No sure how the ladies area works but it would be a little more difficult to pin down more that a phone to cordinate the data by.

Again as was suggested, first time is harder to tell, if I have seen the lady before, I am a lttle more at ease with a delay. After that on repeats, it depends on schedule but if I got a call back within 15 minutes, I would try and work around. And I have had experiences where the lady more than makes up for the time when it is one her side.

In a what would you do??? I would quit defending a one minute late. If it was a one minute early that would be something to defend.

Let it go and move on. Make sure you do not do it again. Easy fix.

The whole point here is a "professional" not being, well, PROFESSIONAL.

It's her job to book, coordinate, schedule, interview, advertise and BE AVAILABLE!!
What if the scenario was different..
IE: lady meets the paying customer at the door, says "HI" and brings him in. Then, he gets creepy and dangerous or threatening.. Lady starts to freak... runs to bathroom to call the booker.. OOPS.. booker is playing with her child, phone isn't handy, Freaked lady proceeds to end up in a bad situation and the one that's supposed to be "immediately available" is playing patty-cake in the other room.
Sometimes 1 MINUTE MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
Perhaps not in this case, but the OP WAS NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO A LACK OF TCB.
Or maybe the PAYING CUSTOMER felt like sitting around in a parking lot, waiting for a call, was a bad time investment. While the one that fell down on the job, was blissfully playing "Gotcha' nose" instead of doing what she was supposed to do, considering the guy was paying $200 + an hour, and a good portion of it was also paying her (the one that caused the problem), as well as the lady that missed seeing him.. I don't see a defense here. Just a lack of taking responsibility for their own screw up and trying to drum up sympathy from the masses.. Luckily, it's obvious from the flavor of the replies, "that shit ain't gonna fly here".
