What Makes America Great

I still don't know what you have against making money. Why is that so wrong? What is wrong with a country that maximizes the opportunity for its citizens to make money?

Doofie, you don't even read your own posts, do you? You were one of the first to be shocked at the thought of making money. Originally Posted by CuteOldGuy

What i said was, in not so many words, that anyone who thinks the only thing that makes this country great is an ability to get filthy stinkin' rich (that would be you) is really quite oblivious to all the other things that go towards making a country great, whether it be this or any other country.

Learn to read.

You twisted what I said, and then congratulated yourself on being superior, as usual, Doofie.

Now, answer the question.

This is good. Nonsence defending Doofie. We need a federal program for the blind leading the blind, now.

Why don't you answer the question for him, Nonsence?

What question, Genius? What's wrong with making money? That one?

Nothing. Never said there was.

Now how about you answer my questions in this thread.
There IS SOMETHING WRONG with making money when it becomes your primary objective in life. There are many cases today in our society where we have a lot of very wealthy...but yet unhappy people.

Is that the same for everybody? Should everyone be denied the opportunity to make money because some can't handle it?

I don't think America has a big problem with too many people who have a primary objective of making money. America's big problem is having too many people who don't work, and have a primary objective of living off their neighbor.

Making enough money to provide for retirement, putting your kids through school, helping to take care of aging parents, giving to charity and having six months income saved for a rainy day requires a decent income. It's not about being greedy. It's about being self reliant, because you know you have an ethical obligation to take care of yourself. It's about knowing, that you don't have a right to take what belongs to someone else.
