Help the Mods develop local policy on Alerts

This site was designed for Hobbyist to discuss ladies not to give Ladies a forum to vent their views about Men. You have the powder room ( think that is what it is called ) for that. Originally Posted by iggy

Here is a question that hasn't been brought up.

Why are we even bothering with a discussion on developing a policy that will only be local to this section of the board? I really can not stand when rules only apply to small parts of the board one way and completely different in another part. It makes this site even more confusing than it already is. Why can't we have consistency across the whole board? I think that makes the most sense.

It blows my mind that we don't have a public NCNS list. On other sites we have it and the Gents bash the NCNSer just as much as the Ladies. I posted about a NCNS on here a while back and some threw a baby fit. I put a lot of time, effort, and money into getting ready for each and every date. It is extremely rare but when someone wastes my time (which is my money) I am LIVID. Someone else would have had that time, I had to turn down others because I don't do a revolving door and I put a lot of time into setting everything up. Some Ladies see 2 guys in the time it takes me to get ready to see 1.
When it comes to TCB I think Gents should know if someone double books, forgets bookings, has a revolving door(though most you would never know unless she slipped up and ran over 30 minutes), and so on.
As far as "she didn't get back to me" that is a bit petty, I can list about 15 screen names off the top of my head from WNY alone that I NEVER reply to or just give them the run around and never set up a date because they are asses for various reasons (are assholes on the board, overstayed without tipping, used every towel in my bathroom, canceled a date more than twice in a year, trash talked other Ladies talking about their civi lives in front of me, tried to get powder room info from me...).

When it comes out, I do Plan on asking the authors to publicly compare their Ideas to the rules of the board as set by the administrators, and has the administrators approved what they are attempting to put in place!

I would think the Dallas admin will have the final say on what is being done locally.

as of now it is only talk !! Just wait and see what comes of it.

St Chris is who i was referring to as the Dallas Admin, without calling out his name !!

There are other owners as well as St Chris, however he is the most active owner.

I don't like to talk about people behind their backs or have different faces I show different people. I like to just have it all out in the open so there are no misunderstandings or confusion as to what I think and how I feel I also really enjoy details and explaining every little bit of the hows and whys.
On a lot of sites I am a member of all the different private groups/forums/girls rooms/powder rooms/private access/vouched/verified/green areas I have fun and am active in all of them but when it comes to certain things I think it is weak and lacking of a backbone to hide and whisper something. Especially when whispered and hidden things always come to light eventually in life anyway.
That wasn't a vent sugar pants, it was a detailed explanation.

Okay, let me try to re-state my goal here in a different way....

It is not my intention to circumvent or modify any official site rules. And I do not plan on implementing hard rule or policy that would interest someone like St. Christopher.

What I DO want to do is bring some clarity and consistency to this one area of the site.

This is some serious shit, to put it bluntly. And it could be managed better. We need to make sure members are protected by receiving vital information. But we also need to make sure that the importance of the "Alerts" section and the information in it is not compromised by a bunch of stuff that maybe doesn't belong there.

Right now, what we have is four Moderators trying to look at each thread and bounce it off of all of the various rules that might apply. We also must try to keep the posts relevant so that members are informed. It's tough. And we hear a lot of complaints that our actions are often inconsistent and confusing. Heck, I'm confused about all this most of the time!

There really are very few hard "rules" on this site. No kiddie porn, no drugs, a few others. Most of the rules are actually "guidelines" that require interpretation. And interpretations vary, which leads to..... Yes, inconsistency and confusion. Sorry to belabor that point. But it is a common complaint.

There is no one place.... that I can find, anyway.... that lists a set of rules or "guidelines" specifically for the "Alerts" section. If anyone knows of one, PLEASE post it here!

The rules for the "Alerts" section are the same basic rules that cover virtually every kind of post on this Board. Here is the link for that:

http://comwww.eccie.net/announcement.php?f=490

(Hey, GP - note that St. C calls them "guidelines." Man, does THAT add to the confusion! )

Soooooo... to those of you who say that Upstate NY should not have different rules than other areas... I would tell you that ALL areas are different. It depends on the local Mods and how they interpret the general rules of the Board. They are given broad discretion with this.

Let's try to eliminate some of the variability and improve THIS section in OUR little corner of ECCIE. And if it works..... hey, maybe others will pick up on it too. But I have no illusions that we will be generating SOP for the entire site.

Upstate NY is ours. If we follow the basic rules, we can do anything we want within reason to make things better for us, the people who post regularly in the Upstate NY section. St. Chris doesn't care.

I've gone on too long and probably lost many. But I did want to try to clarify what I would like to achieve here and address a few of the more critical comments made so far.

Don't make too much out of this. There are maybe a couple of "Alerts" posted per week. But those few seem to generate a lot of unnecessary controversy. We've got to be able to make that better.

I am talking about the practice of "anonymizing" phone numbers. There has been an interpretation of the following rule:

#5 - Outing or threats of outing are taken seriously. Membership here is anonymous and for the privacy of our members it will remain that way. That means any effort or attempt to connect a person's real world information to their username on this board will be dealt with swiftly and harshly. This includes real names, employment, medical info, addresses past or present, images, criminal or driving record, etc. We expect everyone who participates here to respect and go to great lengths to protect the anonymity and privacy of one another. Reckless disregard or accidental outing will also be taken very seriously.

Nowhere in that paragraph does it say that you cannot post the phone number of a BP gal that ripped you off. But the interpretation has been that posting complete numbers should not be allowed since they could potentially be traced back.

Personally, I tend to agree with the point made by a few of you that if a person is putting that number into an ad, then it should be fair game. I'll bet that if you posted a number from a BP ad somewhere else, say in response to a "Requests and ISO's" thread, you could probably get away with it! Again.... we have inconsistent policy being applied. Or, more likely, an interpretation of a guideline that has gone too far.

I think we need to discuss this practice... and perhaps a few others... and decide whether a change is needed or whether we should continue to mask all phone numbers in "Alert" threads. And then we need to document the decision and make it available to all.
