I guess I will Google how to catch a flounder lol Originally Posted by Amiliah Rayne

Also, they strike by opening their wide mouth and sucking in the prey, clamping down to disable it. Then they open again to swallow it. The trick is to stop dragging when you first feel the hit, because it's possible to pull the hook out of the flounder's mouth when they go to swallow the mud minnow. Instead, wait a few seconds and slowly retrieve. If you feel weight on the line, then set the hook.

Heading out tomorrow.

Water calm will take the boat, water rough will go to Seawolf Park pier. Either way the bull reds and flounder are running, and I'm in dire need of a fishing fix.
I found this interesting to read AR

The old saying is that when a flounder strikes, drink a cup of coffee, then set the hook.

Some friends and I were fishing, apparently during the Spring Migration. We were using live shrimp under a popping cork and were anchored on a shallow flat. The tide was running fairly strong and our corks were drifting with it. My cork stopped. I waited until it slowly started to slide under the water. I set the hook and it was a nice flounder. Using that technique, we caught 12 nice ones anchored in the same spot.
