2lbs. Ground turkey
1 can red beans
1 can black beans
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
5 serrano peppers
2 cans diced tomatoes
2 tablespoons chili powder
Chop serrano peppers in food processor
Brown turkey in a pan adding garlic, strain and rinse the meat.
Add turkey, peppers, beans, tomatoes and chili powder to large pot bring to boil then let it simmer for two hours.
It's real simple to make and it's high in protein and low in fat.

Using 99% lean turkey meat means that the liquid will be pretty watery in a turkey chili, even using a lot of beans to add the starch. I thickened mine up a bit this last time using a little bit of corn starch at the very end and it worked really good. I can't use a roux, too unhealthy.

As I said before, calling that recipe "chili" here in Texas will get you strung up since both of ours have beans in them. I add finely diced vegetables to mine sometimes to give a little extra body as well, just whatever I have in the fridge.

I'm a native texan and I've never heard of beans in chili being sacrilegious.
But thanks for the tip as I do like a thicker chili.

Heh, do a Google search for "the great Texas chili debate" and I guarantee you it'll be about beans or not...

It's been suggested to me to try Masa Harina, for the lime flavor, instead of the regular cornstarch to thicken it up, but I just never wanted to buy a bag of it just to use a teaspoon or so in my pot of chili...

I agree with that statement DJ. Kids will eat what the parent eats. They will sit around and play video games if the parent does the same. And vice versa with good eating habits and outdoor activities.
Sounds harsh but it's a truth.

I thought I explained how this happened DJ. It wasn't in my past at all...it was a ten weeks ago...

I've never been overweight. Being in the Army always gave me a reason to stay within weight limits proposed by the Army. Being an NCO I had to set the example, and being in charge of the Weight Control program made it even more imperative that I stay in shape. Once I ETS'd, I just got lazy. Plain and simple. When I went to the doctor and I realized I was 6'-0" and 198, and that meant I was overweight, I reacted how I've always done in my life when I see a massive problem. I unfuck it.

I started simple, doing nothing but counting calories by portion control using My Fit Foods. After doing nothing else, no exercise, no nothing but eating meals from them and just water to drink, I lost 13 pounds, 6% of my body weight. I didn't weigh myself a single time in five weeks. I waited and just ate my food and drank my water. Wen I saw the results, I flipped out. I then realized that losing weight is no great secret. It's not hard. All it takes is a choice to do it. Once I realized that, all of the other corollaries followed.

Fat people are lazy. They cause other people to be fat. They cost everyone money. And seeing how easy it is to correct it, I saw clear as day what this country was becoming, and exactly how it got there. Pisses me off...

That's how I got where I am on this issue. I'm treating everyone like a Private. I don't care what they think, they get to unfuck themselves. Period.

P.S.-Five more weeks later and I'm now 177 pounds. Down 11% of my body weight...with no exercise...and I've saved over $450 in those ten weeks in food costs...

Yeah but that only explains your online persona for the last ten weeks. What about before that.

I automatically assumed that DJ wasn't asking about that. He's known me for a long time and he knows that I don't pick random people, or just target everyone. I have very specific bullseyes I aim for and hit. DJ knows that. My detractors refuse to acknowledge it. I don't give a fuck about any of it. Simple...

Yep, I need to get in shape because my health insurance premiums are determined by how healthy I am. Triglycerides, BP, body fat % etc.
It sucks but I'll keep on living.
Fat people (myself included) and obamacare are driving our health costs up.
Lose weight or pay for it.
