You don't watch the purge and have expectations.

It's works in that regard - just where the first to 2nd film expanded upon showing you what happens on Purge night - this sequel was just more of the same - no backstory - no new ground covered - but it works for dumb entertainment -
cr76,
So you didn't like Independence Day II. Haven't seen it yet but buddy swears I'll like it. Is it too over hyped from all the commercials? I might just go see it with low expectation and then might think its ok movie. Havn't seen a decent movie in awhile. This year so far has been a let down on movie. I just hope Rogue One doesn't do that for me.

Independence Day is horrible IMO - no where near the awesomeness of the original and some of it seems to be a rehash of the original. i always encourage people to see it for themselves and then decide.

Ghostbusters was good not great.
A Decent remake, reboot what ever. It's not as good as the original and it was never going to be, but this is still better then what it could have been. It's a fun a night at the movies.
I just wish the editing had been a bit more on point. It, bounces around a lot, and the villain isn't really developed beyond. "I was bullied as a teen and ghosts were my only friends."

Looks ok - van damme still looks good despite his age but where's Bolo Yeung??
So van damme not playing the same character??
It's a reboot of the series as a sequel is already in the works. JCVD is playing the role of the master.

Well I am a die hard fan and I enjoyed it.
Was it the one I truly wanted?? Not necessarily, but hey I got a new ghosbuster movie , so I am happy about that , plus rejuvenated interest in the property. All pluses.
Does it ruin the original, not for me.
Fans are going to take it either way, some will like it, some won't.
This fan enjoyed it and I'll see part 2, 3, 4 I'll watch em all!!!!
But I was looking at box office numbers and talking about bombs, what the fuck happened with ninja turtles 2 - I mean it struggled and failed . No where near the business of the original.
Remember, Feig said that his vision of the Ghostbusters franchise reboot was a billion dollar idea.
Not sure why TMNT 2 flopped but BvS & CW could've played a role mainly BvS. Ever since the big letdown from BvS all the superhero movies after that have not hit the numbers they were expecting. Then again I'm sure there were other factors.

That's interesting. there does seem to be super hero fatigue.
STAR TREK BEYOND opens this weekend.
Going with my cuz next week the BARCO ESCAPE theater at the SANTIKOS Silverado. Only escape theater in Houston - comes with three screens which allows for a panoramic view of the movie at certain times.
I wonder if they will do anything for Anton YELCHIN - that was tragic.
