If she hadn’t said her intent was to kill, she would have gotten less time.
She fucked up and killed an innocent man. 10 years is fair.

Habitual drunk drivers kill multiple people & get less time......
That’s 10 years with no cock. I wonder if her cop partner will be put on the visitors list.

She got 10 years which means she is eligible for parole after she has served 1/2 of it, good time credits will not apply in her case since she is convicted of a 3G offense.

This is very strange twist.

They convict her of Murder when they didn't have enough to charge her or convict her of Murder right from the start.

She could had gotten 5 years to 99 years (life) and now she gets a 10 year sentence,

way below what most people expected her to get.

Being eligible for parole and receiving parole are two different things. The victim’s family will have a say in that. But the hug indicates they will not object to parole. But frankly she’s going to have to toss a lot of salad to stay out of trouble if she wants out early.

Well, I'm not sure where you are getting your information but she was indicted on murder charges by a Dallas County grand jury on November 30th, so they were presented with enough evidence to decide this.

Yes, she was charged with manslaughter in the beginning but that obviously doesn't matter now.

Your comment comes across as if they didn't indict her of murder charges in the beginning of the trial and it wasn't until the end of the trial that they chose to which is not correct.

Pretty impressive outcome. Jury goes fir the higher charge, but issues a moderate sentence in light of all the extenuating factors. Given that she shot a guy siting there minding his own business eating ice cream in his easy chair, i’d say it’s overall a pretty just verdict. I think it also suggests that Dallas juries won’t blindly excuse a cop if they fuck up. And that’s a message that needs sending. Frequently.

Though that this was also quite interesting.
