How long did it take for a vaccine for polio to become affordable enough to mass produce and distribute? Wasn't it literally decades? I know medical and technological advancements have come a long way, but that 1 year estimate still sounds too good to be true for a vaccine that can be mass produced and distributed. there were mass vaccinations of the salk vaccine, developed in the 50's, there was no delay

cases dropped by around 90%

then sabin developed an oral vaccine and the scrouge of polio was virtually eliminated
