How did people meet escorts in the pre-internet era?

Well . . .there was a lot of uncertainty. Both parties were unsure if the other was LE. Sometimes this was quite a little dance.

The yellow pages had catagories for Entertainment, Performers, Adult Entertainment or, in larger cities, a frank listing for Escorts. You never saw a picture of the provider in advance.

Listings for Agencies and "Massage Parlors" were a good bet for BCD action, and of course there was less doubt about a SW (and you could see her first . . .but . . .).

With ASPD and now ECCIE, P411 and others, there is not only little doubt, but you know what the provider actually looks like.

I believe lots of girls worked hotel bars and used yellow pages back in the day. With the save act we may have to go back to that.

Worked a bit as a night shift desk clerk at a low/mid range motel during college (smaller town). I had a few check-ins that tried to slip me cash to send them a woman. Always wondered if it was a thing at the place that no one that had let me in on.

I started out with an agency back in the mid 90's. They advertised in the phone book and newpapers. After that, went indy and would use phone chat rooms. Mostly Lava Life. Also, had a couple taxi drivers and a few friends that would call sometimes with referrals. Had a lot of regulars and referral from regulars.

Outcalls were a pain. Iif you had trouble locating a place you had to find a payphone, hope you got it right that time, and if not find another payphone, etc. And you had to count on PEOPLE to give you directions. And let me tell you, a lot of people were/are really terrible at giving directions....

Right before leaving the biz, it was Craigslist. Although, that was still fairly new and pretty high tech at the time (first time for pics and email appointments), lol.

I was told a story about this biz a few years back before the online ways... a guy had a hooker approach him as he was walking outside of a bar and hand him a biz car.

Pro- you can at LEAST know what she looks like and not go off of pics that were taken 10 years ago.
Con- youre drunk and drunk = horny and stupid decision making

Pro- you probably spent all your money getting drunk so you may have that to override your stupid decision making
Con- no reviews to see if she worth it
