Rochester What Have I Done Wrong????

Heres how I see it, in business if your having trouble getting people in your door, or buying your product, you change the way you sell it. Running specials buy 1 get 1 1/2 off, early bird specials, coupons. You have to do something to set yourself apart from the rest. Thats why some busineses cant keep their doors open. If it was easy everyone would be doing it and be successfull at it.

Sounds like the Reagan administration all over again. Last time unemployment was this high was in the early eighties, when I was getting out of college. You could get your pizza delivered by a guy with a master's degree, no problem!

If you don't think the economy is bad....here is a stat that will blow you away...as per CNN...85% of all college graduates next spring will be home living with their parents after graduation. Think about that...you pay $100k for an education...and you end up in your parent's basement jerking off all day (with a $200k bill to pay off). (at least I didn't have a loan to pay back, but almost went blind as a result)

The economy sucks....I have cut way back on lobbying...(mostly because I bought a gorgeous new 2011 Camaro SS)...and "she" gets all my attention now....but seriously...things are rough, and even those like myself who are not directly affected, you never know what the future holds...so I tend to save a lot more than I used to. · How much do you require to make this income option worth your while versus other options and life style choices (although we have not met – please don’t change – me like)
· The factors that affect demand for your service, such as the abundance of other quality providers in your market, the availability of discretionary funds from your target market.
· Be careful in how you use pricing strategies to alter demand, as there are both short and long-term implications. Make sure they work for you. As Doove pointed out you can unintentionally train your clients to behave in a manner that was not your original intention,

Kudos to Doove and Deepthinker for well thought out and intelligent responses. Best of Luck Gabrielle and, I looking forward to meeting you some day.
This is the first whole week in a while that I have decided to work at home here in Rochester. I have not gotten any response at all. I would like feedback from people as to what I am doing wrong. Rate? Service? Location? Etc? Please help me to fix whatever issues there are. I do care and if I am doing something wrong I would like to know.

I agree that it is an economy issue. Monroe County is the highest taxed county in the Country. Having said that, perhaps the providers will need to adjust their prices based on the market.

Also, if there is a question if the provider prices may be high, look at the "asian invasion" that has developed with MP's. Sort of the "Sams Club" of providers. As the providers prices increase, more of these MP's are popping up..... So the regular providers may not be seeing clients because the clients are going to the discount service providers.... I know that I go to the MP's because I cannot afford $250 to $300 for an hours service. $300 puts a lot of food on the table for the family....
Well here's my 2 cents; In my business there has been a lull in business the last two months and with all the leading economic factors that are showing an upturn, I still feel and see on a daily basis that people are spending on neccesities not xtra.
Having seen Gabby on many occasion including back when she was working out in the Webster area I can say that 1. there are not many other area ladies that can compete with her looks or especially her skill in making you feel special. A very few names come to mind but as I see it our petite G is as good as anyone in our our of the area.
Given all that would I pay top dollar right now for G??? I would if I could but times are tough and hopefully not getting any tougher.. I am with a few that say (only because I have had to do this in my own business(specials are where the money is at) if the general public think that they are getting not only thier money's worth but also a discount then they are more likely to slurge and spend a bit more. Putting a time limit on a (special) is also very important to making it work in this dank ecomony.
I'm done... Love ya G

I know the economy has people tightening their spending nowadays. I see it on the news and listen to people talk about what they're spending their money on or not.

With that said, this has been my busiest year ever. My business does not provide a service of necessity but rather a luxury of sorts. I haven't dropped my prices or had "sales" to bring in more business. I do work harder and provide a better service to my clients, and perhaps go an extra mile for them. I have expanded what I offer to more niche clientele (in addition to a broader market). People have noticed and somehow have been able to find the money in these economic times.

I'm not suggesting that a provider should offer services they aren't comfortable with but maybe look at things they could do that aren't what's currently offered or maybe that no one else does. Maybe there's a niche that can be tapped into. I have no clue what that could be as I'm pretty vanilla. I'm just trying to induce some thinking that's outside the box.

If interested, I can recommend a good marketing book that can help shape the way you approach a business image. If you can carry 2 thoughts in your head at once, you can relate it to almost any business. You know your clientele better than anyone else. Use that.

I don't hobby as much as I'd like to but usually not due to funds but rather the lack of time and my location sucks. The busy season is finally slowing down a little so maybe that will change. Usually it's out of convenience and/or an immediate need.
