This Syrian adventure hasn't really been thought out.

Trump wants U.S. troops out of Syria. Fine. but do it with a minimum of disruption.

They could have worked something out with the Russians on providing a Northern safe zone instead of the Turks there.

But it is obvious that there are people inside the Pentagon and in the state dept. who are not willing to provide alternate advice that supports his policy. These are the people who support the "forever war" concept.

I think they basically sabotaged Trumps policy on purpose. "see this is what happens when you don't listen to us" type of deal (their policy preference) .... I think this is partly why Bolton was out.
