Revolutionary War started with the shot heard around the world on April 19, 1775, before the Marines were founded...It all started at Concord...but that doesn't in anyway diminish the history and proud tradition of the Marines... Originally Posted by kcpitchreader

Thank you very much of reminding me of that date. It has slipped my mind, and I love history. Dates are very important to know to put the chain of events into a clear view.

In THE US NAVY an O2 is called a Lieutenant Junior Grade (JG) and a Lieutenant 03 is the same as a captain in the Army or US Marine Corps.

The US Navy does not have an officer referred to as a 2ed Lieutenant. you are thinking of the Army, the US Marine Corps or the US Air Force. You could google it with ease, I did not have to.

The observation that if one doesn't know that: they have not served or been around the Navy. The Marines are a part of the US Navy Department. The Navy Medical Corps provides services to the Marines. The cross over is common in many areas.
I spent a lot of time with the US Navy in a Marine uniform. Originally Posted by JRLawrence

I'm well aware of milranks.
At the war college, a short drive away, even visiting professors get an honorary rank as the chain of command even applies to to instructional services by contractors. Even wet boys and cloud huggers take classes there. There's even foreign mil visitors.

But back to tats.
I don't have any. But every gal but one on the recurring dance card does. Even the one that drives a Z06. I love tracing the ink and hearing the stories.

If a tat is just an attempt to be accepted by a group, or someone in particular: examine your own motive and acceptance of yourself.

If the tat is to proclaim that you are a part of the "out law" society, it is an attempt to say "fuck you" to the rest of society. Do you wonder then just why tattoos can bring rejection from others: that is what you requested with the "fuck You" attitude.

It is not the tat that can be the problem: it is the attitude behind the tat. Don't expect the tat to buy you anything.

If you get a tat, it is for you and no one else.

Years ago I used to not care for tats, then as they became more prevalent, I didn't mind them. Then I met VanessaInk (https://www.eccie.net/member.php?u=348047) and now am of the opinion that they can be awesome.!
