I will tell you about some places that were owned and ran by guys that are deceased, you had Larocca's Italian wholesale grocery on 5th, Sebbeto's Funeral Home, Gaetanio's in the market area, Tigers records, Villa Capri pizza and cocktails, 606 club (6th and Prospect), Northeast Auto, Willie Cammisano Sr.'s garage 526 Monroe, Brooklyn Market, Mandolia Sausage Company 3rd Brooklyn, Carrola Meat company, C&C Meat company, Industrial wrecking and salvage, Nigro's western wear all locations, Roma Bakery, Be Amused vending, KC vending, Bruno's bonding company, Georgie Porgies resturant, Marty's BBQ, Grand Emporiam, Main St Coin shop, J's Pawn, Nigro's Pawn, The Downtown Hospital (owned by Dr. Nigro a made member, provided abortions and STD treatment for "family" working girls). There are a LOT of others and a LOT of business that are in current operations and I will not be able to discuss them.

I have been involved in this world from the time I was born I know a lot probably more than I should LOL. Although I spent my early "working" years in Chicago and Rockford, I know and associated with many of the old KC outfit and some of the current one's. There is no way I can provide validation for what I speak of without exposing myself to consequences, so the members of this board can make their own mind up whether they believe the information I pass along.

Not that it matters to any of you, but I spent the first several years of my life in Gladstone near the Civella compound, but moved away only to return to a local university just before the River Quay wars, but didn't really fathom what was happening.

Anyway, I have found this thread to be very interesting and informative; it is a look at KC history through the eyes of some who actually know firsthand!

I recognize some of those businesses you just mentioned, DD.

Tigers was owned by Anthony "Tiger" Cardarella (Katheryn Sheilds married his son, Phillip LOL) his primary use for the organizaion was as a fence, he also had a team of boosters who would travel around the midwest stealing records and other merchandise, so yeah that why it was so cheap. The Quey war was a war with two fronts you had Fred Bonodonna who was battling with the Cammisano's for territory and control of the Quey and you had the Spero brothers who could care less about the Quey but they sided with the Bonodonnas just to be against the Civellas, the Spero's were trying to wrestle control of the Teamsters from Uncle Nicky's control, altogether you have around 9 or 10, here are some of them broke down by faction.

David Bonodonna - Fred Bonadonna faction
John Amaro - Civella Faction
Gary "Parker T" Parker - Bonadonna faction

Nick Spero - Bonodonna/Spero faction

I know I am forgetting someone, but for the most part the Bonodonna/Spero's blew things up, the Civella crews killed the Bonodonna crew. The Civellas lost 3 bars and several resturants to explosions or fire.

John Amaro lived two house away from Uncle Nick, he was killed in his garage. The Civella crew concerned with the message that was sent by this brazzen attack, decided that killing them was the only alternative. Had Fred Bonodonna not turned to the FBI and WPP, he would not have survived, the outfit had all but eliminated anyone who was willing to side or support him, his only choice was to flip or die.

I met Joe In the 70's because I bought property in the Market area when it was very low. Even sold properties were abandoned, or went back to the previous owners. I sold all of the properties in the Market a few years ago before Obama. Things may improve again when O is no longer in office.
