The article you provided provides speculation about conflict of interest if they are friends. Even if they actually are, it seems there are ways around that.

This is an investigation into Russian involvement into our election, not who Comey is froends with.

Maybe Trump, who hired the man who hired Muller should have thought about this before firing Comey.
