Anyone who has spent a significant amount of time banging Thai hookers has also gone to a movie theater in Thailand. There's nothing more exciting than taking your trashy, tattooed up date into a theater while a bunch of prim, proper Thai women look on disapprovingly, and then start feeling her up. But first thing, before the movie starts, you must stand up respectfully while a three minute tribute to the King of Thailand and royal family plays on the screen. If you don't stand up respectfully they can stick your ass in jail. For that matter, if you take a 100 Baht note, which has the King's profile on it, and you tear it in half, they can stick your ass in jail. If you post something on social media criticizing the King, they WILL put you in jail.
Thank goodness I live in the United States of America, where people are free to sit on their knees during the National Anthem. And they don't go to jail.
And thank goodness any team owner is free to treat his employees like chattel and fire them if they take a knee.
Seriously, I'll always stand at attention and cross my heart when the national anthem is played, because I have a lot of respect for the people who have sacrificed so much for our country. At the same time, freedom of speech is one of the fundamental rights in this country, something that separates us from many other places, even England. I can see both sides. Anyone who wants to make a statement by kneeling should be able to. If fans are going to boycott games or team owners are going to fire players for kneeling, while I disagree with them, they should have the right to do that too.
