Does a tip or gift do anything for the client?

I'm sorry sir, I don't see any back peddling on my part. First theres a big difference between calling someone a cheap ass and mentioning cheap ass behavior. One being we (as in anyone) could occasionally be guiltily of cheap ass behavior.

And by saying -
"I'm just saying , here lately a guy is more likely to show up a little short on cash then he is to show up with a potential tip in his pocket."

I am just pointing something out. Maybe I should have said just as likely instead of more likely. But whatever.

And lastly, I am just voicing my opinion as I see it. Not to argue the way I see it.

And my answer to the original question is .... YES Gifts & tips do something for the client.

I love those little square handmade soaps from the Sandia Resort, lol.
note to self..next trip to south texas ...carry handmade soap !!!
Sometimes its the simple things in life we most appreciate and even the smallest show of sincereity by bringing a small token with you to present to someone can lighten the mood..be it a provider, friend,or just a aquaintance.
Its not cheap to not bring something or to not tip but as some of the ladies have stated it might help brighten their day so its up to each individual to decide if they want to do it or not..there is no wrong or right !

Should the guys that tip "expect" extras (time, activities ect ect) for tipping because in my opinion if you tip it's to show appreciation not to gain favoritism. not tipping or bringing gifts make providers think a client is a "cheap ass"? Originally Posted by Eccie Addict

I mean, if I go to a restaurant, and know that I'm going to come back because I liked the services and the service, I tip extra well so that the next time I come in, they remember me, and are likely to remember my likes and dislikes. I've been able to sit in parts of restaurants that are closed to others because of being a regular and a tipper.

Now, bringing this to bear on the provider/client relationship-- If I wow a guy, and he tips me, the next time, I'm going to work hard to wow him again and change things up. If he doesn't tip me-- it depends-- I might do the same exact thing as last time, which might be excellent for him, but I won't be as creative or flexible. A good tipper means becoming a VIP-- I'll move around my appointments around his preference of time. If I have the time, I'll happily stay anywhere between fifteen minutes or more extra just enjoying his company because I know he gets that the money or gifts shows to me that he *gets* it, and appreciates me specifically, and not just as one provider of many. Adoration is a two-way street, and being adored makes me, in turn (for the most part--this is where reading the emotional vampire thread is a useful post) adoring.

Being a repeat customer also gets some of these perks, but they have to see me relatively soon after the first time, and start actually being a regular.

Doesn't mean I'm not going to appreciate the business, be polite, and fun, and considerate. It just means that I'm not going to go extra out of my way to accommodate them.

So true Miss Sugarbeth,... its like any business, you know you show partiality to your top accounts at a store, bank whatever. You would go out of your way to accommodate them & though everyone gets great & excellent service but your best accounts will always be treated with those perks I call VIP treatment, such as accommodating last minute plans/requests, changing your plans to coincide with there's etc.

Now that makes sense. I can understand those reasons. Neither of you said that you feel that a client is cheap due to not tipping. You still give good service because that's what taking pride in what you do is all about
Mr Bunny,

I am stating a fact based on the majority of my experiences. Yes, I believe it and live it. .

Do you really believe that? I mean we can concentrate enough just reading ads and websites do you really believe we can concentrate while in the presence of an actual woman lol. Originally Posted by Eccie Addict

Also-- I edited a couple of typos in my last post. The only thing I really changed as far as substance was saying that when a client *gets it*, that adoration is a two-way street, and that being adored makes me more adoring. However, I highly doubt, I can become more adorable.

I always bring flowers and a gift or 2 when seeing a provider. The first time is your one and only chance to make a good first impression on her.I always bring extra cash for a tip also but my tip is not based on her service, but more based on if she shows me the same kind of of courtesy and respect I've shown her.If you want your rate up front then thats all you get.If you charge me the regular rate on multi hours (which is all I get) then no tip either.I take the stance if I can't afford to tip my waiter, hair stylist, and even provider then maybe I should just stay home until I can afford it.

I never cared too much for extra money because what I charged per hour satisfied me financially. I never asked for tips or gifts.. while they were appreciated they were never expected! I don't get the "If you tip me more I'll treat you extra special" concept because any/every paying client is to be treated special. However, the men that brought me flowers, chocolate and wine on a regular basis, treated me nice, was clean and respectful would get huge discounts on multi-hour discounts lol. Yeah I was so easy .

I agree Naomi, just a little something gift to me always made it seem more like a "real" date and just made me feel good & just set the tone of the date
