Hitler did everything in his power to eradicate Soviet communism in his country. Soviet communism (socialism is economic, communism is political) was all about the whole world singing in perfect harmony (thanks Coke). Hitler broke from socialism because he was a nationalist and not a globalist. Hence the name of NATIONAL socialism. The goal of socialism is control of the means of production by the masses. No bosses. In Germany, the state heavily advised what private business would or would not do. They let the owners keep the business (the Germans understand efficiency) but told them that tanks not cars would be built this year.Interesting.
Mussolini defined his party (the fascist party) as a collaboration between business and the state. Kind of like a government telling a social website to sensor something and some people. You've got fascism in Washington DC right now but you won't let yourselves see it.
Read some Ian Kershaw. Probably the most recognized authority on Nazi Germany today. FYI, he thinks Hitler was also a socialist. Originally Posted by the_real_Barleycorn

A little bit of time with a history book or a comparative politics class can save a lot of embarrassment. Despite the posts on social media that claims that the Nazi party were socialists, due to their full name — the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, the assumption is incorrect. This argument has been used to attack socialism through association with Nazi policies. Nazism is fascism and far-right-wing on the political spectrum.
Historians disavowed claims that Hitler adhered to socialist ideology. Historian Richard Evans wrote of the Nazis’incorporation of socialist into their name in 1920, “Despite the change of name, however, it would be wrong to see Nazism as a form of, or an outgrowth from, socialism. … Nazism was in some ways an extreme counter-ideology to socialism.” Or historian and Hitler expert Ian Kershaw, “Hitler was never a socialist.” Socialism, for supporters of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, appeared to substitute Marx’s idea of class war with a race one."
