Well, despite the lunatic behaviour of Amber's relatives in the last month, despite my last minute ban, and despite the shitty service for the last few years, I must say that it's with mixed emotions that I watch the old girl go down for the last time. I was an original member literally from the first days back in December 1999. The site was ground breaking in the truest sense of the word back then, and a boon to hobbyists and providers alike. And as frustrating as it was in recent years, the good memories outshine the bad. But the sites time had come and gone. And, frankly, it's fitting that it essentially didn't outlive Amber. Months from now, the family from hell hysteria in the last month will just be one more memory and we'll be telling " . . . do you remember when. . ." stories about their behaviour at socials and can laugh at them.
don't misunderstand. i think that most people, myself included loved aspd...warts and all before amber's passing.

i know that most of the hobby friends i have met, met with and socialized with i met thru that site. the anger is directed at the new guard and the hateful way they behaved after taking over.

and since no one, other than a select few were allowed to speak freely, this is our way of purging all that and being done with it.

some were on aspd for the entire time it was up and its a hard thing to see what has happened and not surprising that many feel angry.

but on the upside, here we are. and i for one am loving the new atmosphere and the other bells and whistles here at eccie! the dust will clear and we all move on to the positive, sexxxy, fun things yet to come!
YAY I'm under Heather

They were letting FireJade have the "last word" at 9pm, and it never got posted. Now the site is not working.

She couldn't even figure out how to post her last boisterous self aggrandizing words.

Oh yea......In the name of Amber! We're grieving! We're torn! But, if you send a few bucks to my paypal....Oh yea in the name of Amber.

Sorry for being so harsh.....I just hated the way the family went in and completely destroyed the board. Within a month...all the good will that was created was gone because of a few people.

But, in a few months its gonna be nothing more than entertaining conversation and a good laugh.

Good Luck to them.....
Life is all about change nothing ever stays the same for ever.

So out with old and in with the new.

Wont be long and we will say ASPD who!
And so it's over ......I love eccie anyway!

While many reviews have been lost (I never did have time to copy them over), it is nice to see a board that runs fast, and has all the cool features of an updated vBulletin server. I do miss ASPD, but it was so antiquated compared to ECCIE

Dang - my first post, and I am a newbie again <hahaha.....>.

From its inception, ECCIE was destined to supplant ASPD. ECCIE is everything ASPD could have been if Amber had not been inattentive and failed to upgrade and modernize.

The anger, inexperience, and incompetence of Fieryjade and Angelimnot only accelerated the process.

I spent almost 10 yrs at ASPD. Most of it as a mod. Though the last month was embarrassing to almost all the staff and many left, there will be fond memories in my mind.

Many welcomed the family as saviours because they believed that modernization would come as a result of new blood and no longer having to deal with the drain of Amber's illness. They were wrong and the last month proved it in a way harsher than any would have believed.

But ASPD's time has passed. It's time to remember but to move on. What Amber wanted more than anything else was the safety of hobbyists and providers. If you find a home that provides that for you, then you honor her wishes.
Well said John Bull, well said.

Of the thousands of posts I've read over the past few weeks, that was the most insightful.

I enjoyed the hell out the 5 years i was on ASPD, mostly from my corner of the world, south Texas, But the final month and half or so was just agonizing.

At first seeing flaming public grief of her parents and their presumed slight by the ASPD community, followed by the boards emasculation with silly new rules, and finally their harsh treatment of anyone who voiced decent in what looked an ham handed attempt to pick the bones of a dying corpus.

I am glad it is over. I wish ERAPS the best of luck, but they will have to get it going without me.
God Bless Amber,
Know Amber didn't want the site to end that way.
Just shows how greed works.
Its a shame all Ambers work is gone as we remember it but never have met Amber and didn't need to.
Ambers site was the key to the business.

I'm DONE

RIP ASPD

The End

To a new beginning here, my 2nd life.
