What are your hard lessons learned?

Lot's of good stuff here and in the replies!

It's been interesting for me to see how hard it can be to quit when it stops being fun. From a guy perspective one can get caught in the trap of trying to recapture that initial high from when this was new. It's take me leaving multiple sessions with various providers feeling like I just wasted my time and money to get fed up enough to pretty much suspend my hobbying in favor of exploring other ways to play.

Listen to the old-timers.

I go back to the ASPD days in the mid- 90's and the advice has always been there. It's being repeated again in this and other threads. Pay attention to it. Don't be a dumbass like me and have to learn by making all those mistakes for yourself. Don't think somehow you are special and can pull it off, whatever it is, when everyone has said "don't do it!"

You can have some really bad times and some really amazing times hobbying. It all depends on which head does the thinking for you.

What advice would you give newbie providers and hobbyist?

As a provider, I would advise to not trust another providers. If you want to make friends with one, keep it REAL casual and DON'T tell them anything personal about yourself. Because there ARE people on here who will out you in order to hurt you. I've had it done and I've seen it done time and time again.

Also, it's a good idea watch you say about other people in the hobby because it DOES get back to the person.

I just had a guy pm me asking who I was referring to in the other thread, but telling me what another a well known provider said about me. LOL yeah right, like I'm going to tell anything about anything to a guy who would stir the shit pot over something that happened along time ago. I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but I'm not dumb either.

Oh and one more piece advice, quit when it stops being fun.

:-)

What other advice can we offer the newbies? Originally Posted by Kayleehotchick

Remember that the "I" in IOP is an ILLUSION! Originally Posted by sinkerswim

Don't talk about other providers or hobbiests to anyone, and
Don't believe a fucking word you hear either.

Have a nice day.
