Houston has a whole museum district full of museums of different kinds. It has sports teams [not the "Ice Bats" LOL] It has banks and restaurants you'd actually want to use.
Austin local restaurants built in the last years offer this:

Pizza
Beer
As if the slackers who work here are all still in college or something.
