For those of you who refuse to listen to the scare tactics, consider these alternatives to avoid getting shot or beaten by the police:
1) obey the law (this includes avoiding drugs esp. While operating a motor vehicle)
2) follow the directions of law enforcement officers
3) be respectful and do not let him know you are upset at being pulled over. He/she knows. Answer questions with "Yes/no Sir/Ma'am."
4) roll down all your windows (and turn on your dome light) before the officer gets to the side of the car. Turn off any music that s playing.
5) keep your hands where the officer can see them unless you are told to do otherwise
6) if you are told to produce documentation, do so (I do not recommend reaching for your license or insurance before you are directed. It may appear you are reaching for a weapon. When an officer asks for my license, I tell him it is in my wallet. I move slowly and pull my wallet out with only my thumb and index finger. My other fingers are extended so I do not appear to be pulling out a weapon.)

Disagree (you may do this in court)
Brandish a weapon (even a 3" knife)

Reach for, touch, or attempt to hurt or kill the officer or other people

Police officers kill twice as many white people each year as they do black people, yet few of them get reported in national news. Most people shot by the police are brandishing or reaching for a weapon and are often under the influence of drugs/alcohol (which alows them to make poor and often fatal decisions). In the performance of their duties, law enforcement officers must continually approach people they believe to be involved a crime. Many of these people are dangerous. It is much more likely that a police officer will die during these confrontations than it is that they will shoot a black person. Many more officers die while pursuing a suspect.

Consider the fact that the officer may also be in fear for their life. Minimize these fears to decrease their anxiety and they will be less likely to use deadly force.

If you honestly believe police purposefully target minorities, I suggest you apply to be a police officer. If you really believe they are not doing a good job, go and do it yourself. Show us how you think it should be done or shut the fuck up.
