trump calls Trudeau a "governor", and Canada a "state"

That's how we got the USMCA. We pretend NAFTA was the worst deal ever. We make minor tweaks. We tell people it's sooooo great and the best deal ever.

Not easy to measure this stuff. As with all trade agreements, the costs/benefits to producers are highly localized, whereas the costs/benefits to consumers are widely dispersed. Are the livelihoods/incomes of thousands of Minnesota farmers worth Americans paying 2 cents more for a stick of butter? A good economist might figure it out. But not people who just want to trash Trump or praise him.

If you want a valid talking point, try this one: if the USMCA was the greatest trade deal ever, and it's still in effect today, then why do we need to renegotiate it?

Go do your homework and come back when you're ready to have a convo then
lustylad's Avatar
Who would I have an informed or intelligent convo with? You haven't done any homework.

It's easier for you to just parrot the talking points. And posting links to articles you can't expound upon doesn't count as real convo.

Speaking of talking points - I just lobbed you a good one, and to your discredit you fumbled it immediately.

I didn't pick it up to begin with, Lusty, because you're admittedly ignorant on this one. That's your fumble, not mine. Come back when you stop being impatient and read up.

Start with the energy section before spouting off about talking points. Maybe dabble into the % of domestic content for cars

There you go again.

Holden Caulfield would be impressed with your phoniness.

Come back when you have some substance to offer, instead of superficial talking points.

Thank you. Catch you when you're read up.

Don't forget, Trumpybear slapped new tariffs on a month after they finalized this "amazing deal"

I figured you'll want some infographics. Use the 3 part Thompson Rueters series from 2020 as they had pretty solid writeups and easy to follow tables.

Deloitte has some good reading as well. Great breakdowns of origin verification auditing.

I could talk over your head about that, but it would be rude.

Maybe... the dairy markets will be your jam. I doubt it since you have the directionally reversed, and it's been the subject of multiple trade disputes since 2021 as the Canadians haven't lived up to their end of the bargain in terms of purchasing U.S. dairy products and implemented additional tariffs of their own to stymie access to the market.

Who is "Thompson Rueters"? You can't even spell it correctly, let alone provide a link, or a coherent summary, or an argument of your own. Sad.
HDGristle's Avatar
Why would I give you a summary or link? It's your homework to do and to go find. You have a Google machine in your hands.

All you really seem focused on and capable of is identifying spelling errors... predictably

Read up. Come back ready to chat. You certainly aren't wasting MY time.
.... Can we wander back to the thread topic, please?

... Trump can call Trudeau anything He wants.
Next thing He might call Trudeau is - unemployed. ...

I gave you multiple vectors to tackle this. Research up. Come back when ready.
