fruits of tariffs

You complain about the tariffs, but if they succeed you will complain about that as well. Of course, if other countries drop theirs we will drop ours. That's the goal. Originally Posted by Iceman

Until Trump changes the policy......again.

What an absolute mess.

American's keep buying products from "insert every retailer" and maybe it's a couple cents cheaper, while the company makes more profit for it's CEO. In reverse, the dumpster has pissed off half the countries in the world and they simply choose not to buy from the US. See Canada as an example, they inflicted economic pain (if you personally have seen it or not) on the US just because he acted like a dick towards them.

Hmmmm... WHY wouldn't President Trump "last the year"??
Sounds like a threat.

That's a stretch.
Quit looking to sell a violation, when one does not exist.
... If I wanted to "sell a violation" I'd surely hit the report
triangle button.

... What I wanted was the answer to me question of WHY
the fellow believes President Trump "won't last the year"...
As the tariffs are starting to work.

Unfortunately you used the word "threat" which puts your commentary in a different place

The man is a liar, grifter, and a cheat. Tariffs are not necessarily a bad thing but only when targeted to fix specific problems.

I’m not sure what the “fruits” are for Trump’s tariffs but my guess is that they will be rotten to the core.

The original post was this: What is the historical record on tariffs bringing fruit?

My guess is probably none but it doesn’t matter anyway if you are trying to make a comparison. Every time I hear from one of our talking heads in the media, on either side, I keep hearing the same phrase. “Unprecedented”. So trying to make a historical comparison to today is a lost cause.
... I can understand some o' that, mate.
But putting the badmouth on Trump ain't the issue.
The fruits of the tariffs are. ... Surely would seem that
a good number o' nations are wanting to negotiate.

So, we're seeing the tariffs already starting to bear fruit. ...

Trump won't last the year because he will be ceremonially lynched by his oligarchs and the cunts Johnson and Vance will not be able to keep the troops under control. The House is up for election next year. You think they will be able to withstand a full year of Trump's juvenile game playing? His tariffs are killing the world economy, including yours, lad! He deserves all the blame. If they work (snick)...

Feel free to report that too Salty. Glad I didn't try to insult Australia, mate!

Wait and see... your life savings spiral down the toilet, courtesy of Trump's destructive and entirely self serving tariffs. (He found a toy and he's gonna play with it...)

Trump brags countries are ‘calling us up, kissing my ass’ over tariffs

President Trump bragged that countries have been “calling us up, kissing my ass” ever since he announced he’d be slapping roughly 90 nations with sweeping tariffs — including a staggering 104% levy on China.

“I’m telling you, these countries are calling us up, kissing my ass,” Trump told the National Republican Congressional Committee Dinner late Tuesday — just hours before the tariffs went into effect.

“They are. They are dying to make a deal. ‘Please, please, Sir, make a deal. I’ll do anything. I’ll do anything, sir!’” he said mockingly.

Trump, who stopped short of revealing which countries had asked for a deal, went on to rip “rebel” Republicans who have criticized his reciprocal tariffs and are trying to give Congress the ability to block them.

“I see some rebel Republican, some guy who wants to grandstand, say, ‘I think that Congress should take over negotiations.’ Let me tell you, you don’t negotiate like I negotiate,” he said.

“Oh that’s what I need, I need some guy telling me how to negotiate.”

“I know what the hell I’m doing,” Trump added. “I know what I’m doing, and you know what I’m doing too.”

His remarks came hours before the tariffs, which hit US allies and adversaries alike, went into effect just after midnight.

The tariffs are in addition to a 10% baseline levy imposed on April 5.

Meanwhile there is still a 10% tax across the board. This entire situation sure seems like a manufactured crisis created to raise your taxes and to stroke Trump’s ego while he tries to fix the problem he created.

The man is a walking talking douche bag.

Fruits coming soon? lol sir..

this is a 10+ year project at a minimum.

you understand Trump is trying to return us to the 50s, when the U.S. was a manufacturing and exporting powerhouse, right? except, where are all the future factory workers? oh wait, Trump deported them. what a clown..

Trump's plan is so poorly thought out, it will never work. The only thing you can bank on is inflation, unless Trump folds his shitty hand.

Biden planned out his increased manufacturing and it actually worked as planned.

Trump shoulda taken notes. oh wait, he doesn't have a long enough attention span for that..

what's happening now is all those shipping containers are being abandoned, factories are being shut down, and workers are being let go. can't wait to see Wal-Mart prices once the shit hits the fan. crazy prices and empty shelves. he's a stable genius..

smart people will stockpile necessities now, because later they will be either unavailable or unaffordable. that's necessary because of the bad decisions of one person: Trump.

it's funny that Musk is literally begging Trump to reverse course. great for him to cut off workers' salaries, but now that he's losing his shirt because of Trump, suddenly it's not okay. it's fucking karma for Musk, but on this one point, he's correct.
... I don't believe Trump will be hanged by anyone.
And His tariffs are NOT "killing the world economy"...
