Rick Perry Would Re-Invade Iraq As President

Just a brief moment back on topic. If Perry invades Iraq, I hope he does better than he did invading New Hampshire. 1%! Originally Posted by CuteOldGuy

Gotta say how pleased I am that we taxpayers in Texas get to continue to fund his enormous security detail and all expenses related to that, while he traipses around the country embarrassing Texas while pretending he's going to be President. Buffoon.

His recent statements regarding Iraq are directed at the knuckle-draggers in South Carolina who think like Barleycorn, although why he thinks what is going to happen to him in South Carolina matters is a mystery to me. He'll get more votes than he did in New Hampshire but is still looking at no better than a 4th place finish behind Romney, Paul, and Santorum. I presume he is operating under the assumption that if the GOP takes the WH, he'll be in line for some sort of position in the administration. He wants to be a player.

Oops, I made WTF feel bad. You need to work on your spelling.

Oh Timpage, if you're going to try to talk about what I think (and you were wrong) try to get it right. Your post makes a claim but doesn' t really say what that is. I can only imagine that you think I said something going into Iraq with saber drawn and jets roaring. I didn't say that and don't believe that. I do understand that if Iran goes after Iraq we have obligated ourselves to protecting them. Remember what Colin Powell said, "if you break it, you bought it." We took away they ability to protect themselves against Iran for few more years so we owe them that. For our own personal interest, we cannot allow Iran access and control of those oil fields. As I stated earlier, I think the government of Iraq would INVITE us (and the rest of the world) back in if Iran attacked. If the government of Iraq fell then we would not by definition be invading a friendly nation.

The left has always tried to make this out to be a war about oil. It wasn't before but it will be in the future. I note that the same people who talk about grabbing the oil on one hand attack others who say that we need to protect that some oil. I wish you would make up your minds. This is either about oil or it isn't. So the next time you're doing some bashing about being dependent on foriegn oil (we get most of our oil from the western hemisphere) then be forthright enough to support fighting for that oil.
