Nice work...if you can get it. Michelle's excellent adventure

I don't remember any such trips by Laura Bush and daughters. Care to ellucidate?

I guess Louise missed the salient point; when the economy is very bad maybe the first lady (whoever she is) should cut back on the trips. That was not the case under Kennedy, Bush, or Reagan. Also Laura Bush had her causes; women's health, literacy, and promoting democracy which happens to be why she was in Africa. Now Michelle has two causes under one headline; fat kids and organic food. There are no fat kids in Africa or India and they would just like to eat and to hell with organic food. So Laura Bush had a very legitimate reason for her travel to Africa and Michelle didn't really need to go to India, Africa, Spain, Martha's Vineyard, or an Aspen ski trip. Face it Louise, she was traveling for pleasure on the taxpayer dime. Originally Posted by JD Barleycorn

I still cant see anyone defending the entitlement that these extravagant trips should be the "norm".

Having intellect does not mean that you have a lick of common sense.
Intellect without common sense is worthless.

You were the one touting her creds. Thought maybe you knew.

I think she has a law degree, right? Those are dime a dozen. Has she written anything of any importance? Research? I don't see anything. Originally Posted by CuteOldGuy

Retract my statement . You must be right(wing).

Not a right winger, and I do have a law degree. Of the degrees I have, it was the easiest to get, and the least useful. Look around you, how many lawyers do you see that should be proud of their degree?

All it takes is money and time. And for me, it was a waste of both.

So what makes Michelle special? I know you'd rather talk about me, but you were the one telling us how great and wonderful Michelle Obama was. So? Let's hear it.

So this is just a drop in the budget bucket but it represents a mindset that needs to be repeatedly exposed.

When I was very young I worked at McDonalds for a few months. The owner was Greek and he owned two other franchises in town. He was okay but his wife... She was pure American. She would come blowing in during the daily rushes wearing a mink coat, driving her Cadillac (his and hers), and always that same damn gold locket around her neck with little gold specks inside of it. She would start to issue orders that made no sense based on the situation and then, satisfied that she had saved the day, left. We like him but her... if she was being mugged behind the store I'm not sure anyone would have intervened.

That attitude of privilege should not be in a government of equals like our founders envisioned. Particularly in a non office holding wife. If Barack had any balls he would sit his wife down and tell her to can that shit but we know where Barack keeps his balls.

It is like taking two different jets to the same place a few hours apart.
Reasoning: If she flew with Barrack, she would not be the center of attention.
Both extreme narcissists.

I have taken, and passed, a number of professional exams, including the CPA exam. All them were much more difficult than the bar exam. Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of law can pass a bar exam. Still, that doesn't explain how Sheila Jackson Lee passed.

Of course you can't accept that Laura Bush went on trips during two of the worst crashes on the stock market since the Great Depression but you're going to act as if that did not happen.
