Several years ago I submitted a proposed design for a new school incorporating some safety measures. The problem, and this seems to be the case at Sandy Hook, people tend to believe that you can put a lock on a door but still leave the windows on either side intact. A secure entrance should have no windows and my design had no windows n the outside of the school on the ground floor.

The reason there are windows (and, btw, windows of a certain size) is to allow for an escape in case of an event, usually a fire, which would not allow egress from the area by way of a hallway. This is also why one doesn't see small, slot-like windows that are placed high.
Stick to pushing the brooms and mops. There, pick up that used tampon left over from girls' gym class. And, don't use your teeth like you usually do, thanks!
